I find it exceedingly annoying that we have to enter our password every time we want to change our user lookup. Understandably, it's required so that vital info (such as the password, email, etc.) can't be changed by someone who isn't the owner. But why is that a problem for lookups? I'd like to see that field moved to a different page that doesn't require the password; it'd save me quite a bit of trouble. See, I always forget to enter my password when I make changes, so I have to go back and put it in afterwards. I also can't figure out how to get Firefox to fill the field automatically. x_X

I agree with you, it is so very, very annoying! Especially when I click update, and it tells me to input my password.

And sometimes I click undo changes. I hate that button.

I hate that. There's a lot of things they need to change on the site, but this has got to be one of the most annoying ones :x

I agree, especially when you are trying to find the one mistake in your coding that's messing everything up. I keep forgetting to enter my password and I keep getting more and more frustrated. :x Hopefully TNT will move it onto another page one day, I can't see it'd be to difficult to do that.

They have a definite reason to put it there though...

But yes, it's annoying. We should be able to toggle on the site options section which things we want to protect with our passwords.

Well, actually, I believe that email change happens on a different page.

I hate this stupid password thing. e.e I wish they'd change it.

True; they changed it a couple months ago.

But you are able to change your password on that page which is one of the reasons your current password is required.

It doesn't bother me at all, I like that extra layer of security. When you change your lookup as often as I do it just becomes habit to fill in the password.

Trick, I don't see how it's a security breach to not require a password to change one's lookup description. That has nothing to do with account access.

They should add it to the site preferences page (where our sidebar choice is) because I don't think you need a password to change those settings.

I didn't say it was, just that I like having that extra security and can live happily with it. I like the fact that I can't enter in my new user lookup code and hit return by accident and have it go through overwriting my old code when I didn't want it too.

It's just not a big deal to me and I can think of many other things I'd rather they dealt with first and I wouldn't be devestated if they never changed it at all. Just my opinion :)

I can SO see the user lookup changes being under preferences.

I just wish they would have the links to preferences in a handier spot than "Help" like in the index bar or in Pet Central. Hmmm

They might have it like that so that if say, you leave your account logged on at school, someone doesn't go in and put porn or something on it. *shrug* Not like they couldn't just go spam the neoboards or put it on the pet lookups but hey... just throwing an idea out there. ^_^

I agree it is pretty annoying.

I agree completely. It is very annoying. For the longest time I couldn't just enter my current password for lookup changes, I had to change my password every single time! Lots of time spent writing down new passwords. At least now I do only have to enter my current one, but I do forget sometimes.

I have written several times asking them to please move the lookup edit box, actually ever since they put it on the user preferences page. I liked it when it was off the main chat page, so much easier. Especially these days, when you're trying to code for all browsers. When most of us were just using IE (I know, sloppy) css/html it was easier to quickly fix something.

I seem to recall Donna saying something about it being an added layer of security, but this is an instance where I don't see how. If someone does get into your account, there's a good chance they already know your password, so they could just go enter that if they wanted to do something to your lookup.

But I do miss how much easier it used to to be access our lookup information. I would really love it if they put the edit box on a different page, maybe with a lookup preview link so you could see what things looked like without having to be going back and forth between your lookup and user pref. At least on IE, you can hit the back arrow and not lose your information. Though you do have to put your password in again.

I also would really like to see a separate link from the main chat page to site preferences so we don't have to go through User Pref to get to it for neomail/guild/item/bd/status stuff. You don't need a password to change any of that.
