The accents come to mind. I think a common stereo type would be that Australians say 'mate', 'crikey', and 'down under' in every dang sentence. X_X

When I think of Australia, I think of guys sitting on garden furniture drinking beer. Silly adverts.

Everything I know about Australia:

-You say it "uh-STRAHL-ya."

-Everybody says "dinkum," "chunder," and "tucker." Sometimes in the same sentence.

-Fosters really IS australian for beer.

-Everybody in Australia loves Fosters.

-I know you don't ride kangaroos anywhere. But you still put your kids in wallaby pouches.

-Everyone lives in Sidney, in the desert, or in a billabong.

-There are precisely zero gas stations between Perth and Christchurch.

-Showers? Never! Dirty bar brawls? Forever!

-You greet folks with G'day, even when you're about to toss them out of a bar.

-You call yer wimmen "Sheilas" or "bags," even the pretty ones.

-You call your children "nippers" or "Joeys." Because, of course, you're all decended from criminals and thus likely to confuse your children with the offspring of kangaroos or fish.

-Steve Irwin is a wimp compared to REAL australians, especially the ladies.

-Australian men make every other country's women swoon.

That's about all I got.

I'm sure there are at least a few in the brief over land trips between the Southern Ocean and the Tasman sea.

what do i think of when i think of Australia?
other than the natural "all convicts" (in jest ofcourse) one thing comes to minds.

Spiders.
great and terrible spiders.
spiders that haunt my nightmares to this day.
spiders that probably dont even taste as nice as ours (kinda zingy if you wanted to know)

Your all crazy shark hunters who run out into the water with spears, making war cries like cavemen. You all wear little skimpy bathing suits while doing this, and while your chasing these sharks, you get your legs bit off, then run back to shore with the bloody nubs you have left, get a wooden leg, and go back at it again the next day.

See? I don't even know the difference between Australia and New Zealand.

Quick question: What is OLD zealand?

I say that, along with "sticky".

If there's one thing Home and Away, Neighbours and Sleepover Club have taught me, it's that Australians have horrible school uniforms. Correct?

Sadly, while I'd like to say don't believe Neighbours...

I think it really comes down to what school you go to. Yes, pretty much every school has a uniform which an extremely large number of student complain about but from what I've seen of my uniform, my friend's uniforms, etc they're not quite the same as that (unless you go to a private school). Here, at least, some schools will let you wear jeans with a collared t-shirt in the school colour and others will let you wear a collared t-shirt in the school colour and a skirt, trousers, shorts in another of the school colours. It was all pretty laid-back when I was there.

Lots of Australian walk around bare footed,

Guilty as charged.

Some of these stereotypes aren't half bad, most of them are pretty accurate if you ask me (at least for a percentage of the population).

I keep getting to urge to sing the Australian version of "Jingle Bells" now

This is really amusing to read!
It's so funny to find out what people think life's like here.

But just to clarify, most people don't wrestle sharks or crocodiles, only Steve Irwin the crazy crocodile hunter does that. And most people do NOT greet each other by saying G'day, that just sounds stupid

I personally can't think of any stereotypes, but if you can find The Last/Lost Continent by Terry Pratchett, he makes fun of many.

I remember trying Mint Sprite and telling my parents it was my cultural duty to try all the different candy bars.

Zealand is a large island off the Netherlands, it helps by way of bridge to make a driveway from Denmark to Sweeden.

'Bout as necessary as filling letter with a half a pound of sparkles..

On the contrary, I feel it's much more necessary than anything Alex's worthless Aussie self may do.
Anyway, that's not what I said. I was merely laughing that you got completely creamed by Bangladesh, the Eddie the Eagle of cricket.

You drew with us yesterday though. Gits.

Indeed, I am absolutely hopeless. And I still don't understand why I can get straight As on my profile >_> Sitting next to someone smart in Geo is good. Good thing I didn't take it for GCSE last year.
