Somehow, Harry is going to take his Potions class, because McGonagall couldn't have raised that huge stink for nothing. Have him get an O, have Snape teach DADA, I don't care - but it'll happen.

On that note, Snape will still teach Harry somehow because a) it's a powerful dynamic, b) it's the easiest way to slip in revelations about Snape, and c) JKR wouldn't go on about Harry's newfound, slightly irrational hatred for Snape if it were going nowhere.

The more I see, the more I'm convinced that I'm right about the Big Death. I mean, that's quite a Dark Mark. I'd recommend that Underground Lake editorial, The Castle on the Hill, for perusal. In fact, I'm refreshing myself right now.

Oh, and since it shows Dean Thomas, Ron and Hermione, I think we can safely say the red-haired girl is Ginny. But who cares next to the GIANT DARK MARK OVER HOGWARTS?!

Without context, very. But none of us are without context. Now, for someone randomly deciding to check out this Harry Potter thing, starting with the latest book, it looks about as scary as a multicultural middle school art project.

If it weren't for Ron's apprehensive-determined-all-around-cool expession, that is.

Continuing on the Peter subject, I think Dumbledore saying that Peter being in Harry's debt will make something in happen in HBP, maybe he saves Harry's life or something.

"We're going to do the right thing," Mike Muldoon said. "We don't want to ruin it for other kids and take away from the experience of everyone reading it together."

Kyle Good, a Scholastic publishing spokeswoman, said the company was not aware of any other early sales in the United States. The company said Sylum would get a copy Saturday along with a gift pack

There was a store in Canada that did the same thing, only they sold about 16 copies accidentally. The people who bought them are being urged to return them, and they'll get the books back on the 16th along with some special autographed thing.

That raises an interesting question, though: Keep the book or get it back later with something JKR laid her holy pen against?

I'd speed-read it and then return it :evil:

damn, why cant any bookshop i visit get careless and sell the book. :evil:

but i guess i would have just bought it and not read it (because it would become damn boring on saturday when all my friends would have been reading the book and id have nothing to do)and returned it if they promised me some free thingy. :p

THE BACK COVER is online now. Go to mugglenet to read it. I mean read what it says on the back of the book, but it is a spoiler a little bit so I won't post it and you can read it if you want to.

Also with the HBP book coming out I think we should open a new thread on that day for those who are reading it along together. That would be fun. I think it should go chapter by chapter. I don't know how but maybe we could have several sub threads or something. That way you can read and discuss as you are reading and you won't post anything that someone else hasn't read.

Reading through OotP today, I noticed something that I haven't heard many people talking about. When Moody is showing Harry the picture of the old Order, he says something to the effect of "there's Dorcas Meadowes... Voldemort killed her personally..." So, I'm thinking that this Dorcas Meadowes has to be pretty important. I can't remember reading anything else about her. I don't think Voldemort would just kill a random person in the Order, since he has the DEs to do that, so there HAS to be something about this particular woman. I'm considering the theory that she might be the HBP, but that doesn't seem too likely. (The HBP doesn't have to be a guy!

Rereading CoS, I got two impressions:

Holy moley, house-elves are powerful. I really don't want to see what's going to happen with Kreacher.

We will find out what McGonagall said Dumbledore always said about the "end of Hogwarts." Hopefully not the hard way, but that cover...

Actually, I doubt women are known as Princes in the royal ranks. If anyone could find a folk tale or the like dealing with something similar, perhaps Rowling has used that as a basis. Then we could try and see if it relates to anyone in the HP universe.
