Lol. Sorry, but I love it. :P

Forgive the late ratings, dears. I skipped out yesterday to read Harry Potter 6. You understand. ;)

Scholastic -- I don't think the yellow sunflowers match the red/pink theme you have going on. I think it's a creative idea and all, but maybe if you just changed the pink to a yellower/orangey color.

mazil -- Awesome work! I love the neon green, which is a shocker, since bright green is hardly appealing to me. I like how you adjusted the colors on the lizard so that there is more contrast. It looks great. I guess the only complaint I have is that the inner border on the right is really close to the outer border, but I only noticed after staring at it for a couple minutes.

Jasujo -- Ohhh, so cute! Do they have strawberry ones? Anyway, back to the matter at hand =P: No complaints, other than that you went for a purple background/border when the character is more reddish brown. It's a little clashy, but nothing that makes my eyes go nuts.

Koku -- Cool. Although the vivid thing is pretty neat, I think it might be dancing along the line of blinding too much. I don't get why it's cut off near the top. Also, "courage" is really hard to read, but I wouldn't shed any tears over it.

Apricus -- I actually really like the orangey color scheme here. I think warm colors are perfect for a sexy, sultry dance (my inner ballroom dancer suspects that that is either flamenco or tango rather than waltz). The only thing I dislike is how the border is thinner at the top left. It would've been okay if the image was rotated, but the bottom border is more or less even, so I don't know.

InsanePlushie -- I think the scanlines are too opaque; it's rather distracting. I don't really like the text font choice, but that's a matter of preference.

Laq -- Eh. I don't know. While I think all the makings of a good icon are there, I just don't feel "it". You're flirting with the "no blue" rule a bit too much here, even though I realize that you tried to change the hues. I don't really like how the bottom half is just faded out either.

NeopetsAddict -- There really isn't anything that stands out in this icon. I would've preferred a more rustic theme with the border/font choice. The font is too plain and does not convey the right mood for the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

watericesage -- While I definitely prefer your colors to the original image's color scheme, I think that's all you've got going for you here. The text placement needs work, considering I've only just noticed the "with me" and I've glanced at this icon many times in the past week. It should be in that completely blank area to the right of "fly".

Jaye -- I think the resizing did the original image a favor. Other than that, I'm not quite sure what to say. The font choice isn't very "magical"; it doesn't give off any particular mood that is supposed to go with "magical autumn".

Rachel -- Wow. Lots of clashing there. I'm not quite sure where the original image was used. It looks more like lighting. For some reason, this icon doesn't really agree with me, even though you've got most of the features of an icon there.

Neko -- The bright change in the image doesn't really suggest "fading away". I think the scanlines are a little too strong as well.

timkhj -- How cute! The only complaint I have is that the green background doesn't really go with the picture. Perhaps you could've gone with another color that is more prominent? Or an outer glow around the image so that it smooths over the connection between photograph and cartoony brushes better.

My votes go to Neopets Addict, watericesage, and Neko.

I also can't really tell what the image is- it seems like a bunch of Clouds and Difference Clouds filters, with colour added in. The effect is pretty bizarre though, and although I don't really like this icon as a matter of personal preference, I can see how things are working.

I dont know what a cloud filter is, but i didnt use one...

Oh, fair enough then. It's just something on Photoshop, I neglected to see that you used PSP. Sorry! >_<

Apricus: I like the contrast in this icon, it looks very dramatic. I don't really have anything to say about this one, nice job. 10/10
InsanePlushie: This icon looks really crowded, especially with the rather imposing dark border and the dark background behind the girls. The text is a little boring, you could have mixed up a few fonts, especially since it had so many interesting words in it. 6.5/10
Jasujo: The border is very cute and original, but there are some inconsistencies, and the few bits that are cut off. It's really only very noticeable in the bottom. The text in the middle is really too small, it's a bit illegible. 7/10
_jaye_: This one is pretty. I like the painterly effects you achieved by adjusting some of the color and brightness. The text is rather hard to read because of its placement among the rocks, though. 9/10
Koku: I don't see much that's been done to this picture, besides the boosted contrast and yellow tinting. I'm not particularly fond of the contrast, it makes the picture look like it's been oversharpened. 6/10
LAQ: The background of this one is interesting, but some of the lines are leaking into the main picture near his forehead, collar and neck. Good job changing the color of his clothes, it's still very natural looking. There's a big spot of empty dark space in the bottom right corner, you might have tried to put something there to fill it up. 7.5/10
mazil: This one is very cute, and it's generic enough to share, which is always a nice bonus. There's a little bit of dark fringe on the lizard's bottom right side that should probably be cleaned up a little bit. Otherwise, it's very nice, I really like how you work with fonts, they always look very fresh and non-standard. 9.5/10
Neko: This icon has a kind of strange focus, it's almost entirely on the girl's hair, her face and the carpet are really just pushed off to the side. Still, besides the scanlines, text, and some other little line details, not much done to this picture. 6.5/10
NeopetsAddict: This icon is very very plain. The sky in the original picture made a nice contrast, but instead you replaced it with a blown-up version of the original picture, making the whole icon very drab and grayish. Even though you have some unique text placement in the word "leaning," all the text is still rather boring looking, try some more interesting fonts. 6.5/10
rachel: This one is interesting. I presume you were trying to imitate the way a virus looks under a microscope, and it's actually pretty convincing, and it's a very unusual looking effect. Your text looks a little odd, it's overly tall and a little cramped looking, try a different font. 8.5/10
Scholastic: That's interesting, it's not often that someone takes the time to make vector art for such a small picture. Overall this one is very confusing, the flowery patterns you drew are very intricate, but they're a strain to see since everything is so light. The only really eyecatching part of this icon is the dark bold words, and they sort of blend together because of the colors. The use of the sunflower colors in the upper left is interesting, but since it's so hazy, it really just looks like a dirty spot. 7/10
timkhj: Nice red-eye, the red in the shirt really accentuates it. I'm pretty sure PSP has a desaturating tool that can tone that down. I think the background is really too cartoonish for a photograph, more realistic pictures would have looked better. 7/10
watericesage: I can see you brightened the colors a bit, and perhaps a noise-reducing filter, but other than that, just scanlines and text. 6.5/10

I vote out Koku, InsanePlushie, and watericesage.

Nobody noticed the wind effect thinger? =[

scholastic: i like the way this looks, but the other judges are correct, it's hard to tell what the flowers are at first. i also don't like the font you chose for "state"

mazil: i find onthing wrong accept for what yoshi said earlier, the off centeredness doesn't really work here. try moving it a pixel to the left.

jasujo: i like the background and the image, but i think the colors dont match exedingly well. also, the hearts on the outline need to be touched up.

koku: the color brightness overwhelms me on this one. it detracts from the piece. it's not a bad icon persay, there's just a little too much going on color-wise.

apricus: VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY GOOD! this totally emulates how LJ icons are supposed to look. the rough edges totally work with and mirror the theme of icon. nothing i would change. stellar job this round. you haven't jopped a piece yet.

insaneplusihe: i like what you did image-wise, the colors and scanlines look good. but the text doesn't seem to match and it brings the rest of the piece's focus down. work on that.

Laq: there's something about this piece that i dont like. probably the fact that the image you chose isn't very attractive, andy's mouth is open in a really akward way and it doesn't look nice. you made a beautiful background but stuck a sloppy looking image on top of it. in the future, i would try to keep away from images that look like that.

neopetsaddict: i dont like how you did the background, perhaps a the landscape of the photo or a different landscape wouldhave looked better. and im sure there are better fonts for this piece, perhaps a type of script?

watericesage: the text doesn't match the rest of the image very well, and the image shrinking blurs the image a lot. the wind effect you used isn't large enough to be that noticed. the font you chose fits very well though.

jaye: i really like this one. the colors are stunning, and the font choice and text placement are great.

rachel: you greatly manipulated your image to the point that i dont know what's going on. it doesn't give me the vibe your text says it should/ the text is a little hard to read as well.

neko: i like it. good image placing. good scanlines. good detailing. i don't like your font choice very much, but i can live with it.

timkhj: very cute. i think such a high contrast of the colors on the background and of the image hurts the look of the piece. the idea and overall quality is good though.

You get 4-5 days depending on when Flame returns.

I'm going to Tokyo next week (25-29th), if I'm able to get through, is it okay for you to drop me a PM? I'll see if I can get internet access in Tokyo, but chances are not very likely. Thanks :)
