Neopets is the website http://www.neopets.com . Its a virtual pet site, but be warned, it has add's.
A Neopet is a pet that you create on that site.

She seems to be quite a Harry Potter fan. She problably came here through Avada Kedavra (one of our channels).

The only advice I can give is to avoid the Neoboards. There's too many people there who get easily offended, and will report you for the smallest things.

Stuff to know:

-You can make neopoints by playing the flash games. On each game, you can turn your score into neopoints three times a day.

-Go to "shops" and get familiar with the row of buttons near the top. The first one takes you to your items, and the one that looks like a wizard's hat takes you to a page where you can search for items to buy in other player's shops.

-Neopets can't die. You only have to feed them if you want to battle.

-Every neopet species comes in loads of alternate styles, referred to as "colors". These include not only special color patterns for the pets, but entirely different forms such as baby pets, robot pets, and tons of others. This site is an archive of all the available colors, and is very fun to look through:

I think the question is less "What is Neopets?" as "What are Neopets. As in, are they mutants, creatures that landed on our planet and we adopted, a sophisticated link in the evolutionary chain of dust bunnies...

To tell the truth, I have no idea. I think there is an origin story in the Neopedia that involves Dr. Sloth, but how we ended up on their magical planet and why they let us adopt them is beyond me.
