Living and growing up in Manioba, I had to learn French, it's a mandatory part of the school curriculum. Actually, if enough of the parents (something like ten or twenty percent, I think) asked the school board, they could make them offer lessons for any language.
My French teacher wasn't the best in the world though. We basically learned the same things every year, over and over, and still retained none of it. Very boring, not-very-good-at-teaching-French teacher.

No. I can't speak a word of French and probably will not pursue it until high school, when I have to take a language class so I can go to a good college. :D

I'm still taking French (this is my 8th year of it...if you're counting summer school right now as a "year"). I can generally hold conversations, but I'm still having trouble with grammar concepts (one major one being imparfait vs. passé composé, which I still can't get after hours of practice).

I can't but I would like to. I learned German at school which was a big mistake, though I think that had more to do with their teaching methods. Regardless, French would be far more useful (especially given that I've forgotten all German) and it is a lovely language to speak and know.

Maybe I will learn someday :)

Of? o_O

As in ...maison des (insert random word here), would mean house of (inserted word)?

I don't think I'm right, but just wanted to check anyway.
Just to be completely sure I don't know a thing. :P

I know some completely useless bits of French. I can refer to myself as a crazy little coconut, or beg to be kidnapped. But that's basically it...

Nope, I don't speak any...I don't really have the urge to learn.

Well, I spoke enough to get around Paris when I went once, but I've forgotten almost all of it now.

I'm currently doing this in summer school, and after some excellent advice from some members here and some 3 or 4 hours on practice exercises I found on Google...I still nearly failed my quiz. And I was doing so well online. XP

No, I don't speak any French. In my high school we have two langauges that you can take, Spanish or French. Since I already took one year of Spanish, I went for that.
My friend Morgan took four (or was it three?) years of French though, so she's pretty good.

As I said in the language poll, I have studied French for 2 years in school, but didn't take much intrest in it. Only after I finished with it, I began wanting to know how to speak it.

Right now, I can understand a simple written sentence, but not spoken... The french talk to fast :P

The thing is that my friends that doesn't speak english say they don't understand because english speaks too fast! But in my case, even my french friends say I talk too fast... :roflol:
