If you are not going to help out, I'd rather you didn't post to gloat. Everyone here has been searching for quite a while and that is neither fair nor appreciated.

Why did you post here, then? You know how things work around here -- if you get it first, you post a hint for everyone else and THEN you offer to confirm it for people. The offer of confirmation is absolutely useless to us when we've got nothing to confirm. Most of us have paint programs and don't even need the MP confirmed for us, anyway, because we can do it just fine ourselves. So yeah, intentional or not, your post really does read like you're gloating.

At this point I'm just annoyed with this MP and want it to end so we can move on to the next one.

That is one thing about PPT that I love. They respect and stick to the idea of a "decently hard clue" and nobody posts direct answers anywhere. Jasujo is right. I feel obligated to post a hint after all the hints I have recieved from PPT, and will always post if I know (unless the person providing me with a hint directly forbids it).

I can't speak for paige, but I think she was talking about last time -- she gave hints through PM and the answer ended up on the Neoboards. That's what I got from her post, anyway. But I know none of the regular searchers from here ever post direct answers, here or on the boards. Obviously we have lurkers who don't care as much about that, but there's not much we can do about it.

I'm with stamp -- I've gotten good hints from here so many times that I feel obligated to leave one if I solve it first. It's just the nice thing to do.

Edit: Personally, I think the MP and Lenny boards should be hidden until you have a certain Number of posts. I've seen that done on a few other boards (not neo-related) and its works quite well. It means that if you're coming here to lurk than you have to have spent some time here and would probably end up respecting what this board is for alot more. *my 2 cents*

I don't see that happening anytime in near future. Even if we were to do that, we'd still get registered lurkers who will post the minimum and still get the hints needed. Either way, the answer will not be as safe as you propose. With the exception of the usergroups, these boards are public will remain that way.

I understand that people will still get the minimum numbers of posts so they can see the board, but if say, they had to get 250 posts (I myself would not even be able to see this board yet) then after posting 250 times they would get to know the people here and what we do and would probably be less inclined to blab to the boards. Perhaps its just me?
