"Well, the animals aren't like you or I, they can't speak English. Most of the time, anyway. Some things learn to mimic, but it's not like having a real conversation." Tirea sighed.

"As to the park, I don't know what you mean by sick. And I'm not stunted, but actually pretty tall..." Tirea laughed at her joke, but the creature... what was it's name anyway... probably wouldn't understand.

"Noise? What noise?" Tirea said, straining her ears (eh?) to listen. She thought she heard a jackhammer in the distance, but it could have just been her imagination. The thing the creature was hearing could have been that, or cars, or... "Oh no!" Tirea said, turning to her side to look to see if a car was coming...

((Just before I post, I know nothing of American geography. Just so you know ;) ))

Cakiel walked, slowly and quietly, through the forest, hunting for something to eat. Anything, just food. But preferably meat. Finding no holes, or anything that could show the presence of animals. But there were none. He moved further away, and the forest ended abruptly. He was confrunted by mile after mile of smooth grey stone and metal, towering above his head, dwarfing him. He didn't know what to think, new smells, new sounds, even the air tasted different, and not in a good way.
He didn't know what to think, and the animal in him took over. He screached, spread his wings and flew. Not in any direction, that would just mean more of the horrors, just up. He soared upwards until high above the cloud layer, though even that was polluted. And then he stopped, and began to realise what he'd done. He had drawn attention to himself, practically asked the inhabitants of this strange, metallic world to find him, and he hated to think how they would.

((Sorry, i've been busy lately, but I'll catch up))

Iaran hissed and ran in front of the retreating pair. She had heard all of this conversation, and didn't like this "Park" one bit. She knew that one of the pair was from her world, she spoke of Gaia, and looked like one of her people. But the other was very different.

"Excuse me! I do not know who either of you are. But I am Queen Iaran of the Mountain and Jungle Cats. And I would like to accompany you."

Fri Jul 02, 2004 1:46 pm

Tirea jumped. "Cats is right!" she said after she had gotten over her scare. "Only cats can sneak up on me like that!" She took a deep breath, and glanced at the other creature. "Do you know who this...Queen Iaran is?"[/i]

Sat Jul 03, 2004 5:44 pm

Amaya smiled with scorn.
"Aye, I know her. She practically destroyed a perfectly thriving country. Only a fool does not mock this queen. It's also been said she has the worst temper. What do you think?"
Grinning, she faced the queen, she was the same breed as herself, but it seemed only a satire that was the same.
"Do you know me queen? Another one of your loyal subjects. All of whom you betrayed for power."

Sun Jul 04, 2004 1:09 am

Iaran bared her white fangs, hissing low in her throat. "I don't know how I could have missed you Amaya! And I suppose you enjoy living in a worthless city with a council of leaders?" She stood up proudly her claws glimmering in the light of a street lamp.

"You could have been part of my wonderous domain! A leader of a strong faction, a powerful general, but instead you gave it up for democracy." Hissing the last word, Iaran narrowed her eyes and flattened her ears defencively, "I only wish to travel in this other's company because she has knowledge of this city and this world. But, perhaps until we return to Gaia we should call a truce? After all, there is no point fighting each other now. We should find a way to return to Gaia, and our people, so that we can get on with our important lives."

The fool, how dare she mock me!
I am Queen Iaran of the Mountain and Jungle Cats!
She'll get what's coming to her when I return to Gaia,
I'll annihilate her precious democracy, then we'll see who mocks me!

((0.o Maybe Iaran will return to Gaia and become a peaceful and kind queen, or maybe not. We'll just have to see what she learns from this adventure.))

Tirea backed away, trying to be as far away as she could, and yet close enough that they would not do something to her if they got into a catfight...

When they resolved it, she uneasily said, "Okay, I'll try to help you both, and any others that come along. But you've got to promise not to get into fights or anything like that... I don't want to get scratched if I can avoid it." She looked up, and saw that a helicopter was flying above them. "That could have been the noise you heard... I'm sorry, Ididn't catch your name. Either that, or I forgot it."

Sun Jul 04, 2004 7:25 pm

She smiled cruelly at Iaran. "Your democracy, as you put it, killed us all off. I'm surprised you were not reached by the great plague, after all though, it was your doing. It wouldn't bite the hands that gives it life, now would it?" Amaya sarcastically continued, "Why, I'm surprised you lived at all though, the bitterness you have should have killed you off long ago." A chill wind picked up,and the first sign of heavy rain showed itself.
She sighed, letting fhight drain out of her. Now she turned, Tirea had backed away so far, Amaya almost felt sorry for her"My name is Amaya" She told the girl. The helicopter hovered over them, and the sound was rapidly driving her to anger again. "Let us be off, there are demonic things with your technology."

Sun Jul 04, 2004 10:15 pm

"Wait till the cars start comin, then you'll really go crazy." Tirea said, still keeping a safe distance from the two. "We're almost to my house, I think we'll figure everything out there."

"You guys'll have to go through the window, I'll create a diversion by going in the front door. They might have called the police, so you'll have to be careful." Tirea said. "I didn't really ask if I could go out."

Mon Jul 05, 2004 1:05 am

Iaran smiled wickedly, then turned to Tirea, "Okay then, we shall go to your, house. And who are they, might I ask?" Iaran was very disgrunted by this polluted city and its 'technology'.

I wish I could just return home, to my gorgeous castle....

Mon Jul 05, 2004 1:12 am

"Who are who?" Tirea asked. she glanced left, then right, then motioned for the two to follow. "Don't worry, my room is a lot quieter."

She turned right after she crossed the street and then thought of something. "We're going to go by a lot of traffic, so try not to be seen. I don't know how other people will react to you."

Mon Jul 05, 2004 1:18 am

Iaran followed silently, "Who are the people that you 'didn't really ask if you could go out'."

When the began walking closer to the road, Iaran hissed and clamped her hands over her ears. "What is that dreadful noise? And that putrid smell?"

Her eyes scanned over the cars and traffic swarming over the roads. "And what are those lifeless animals that can move?"

Mon Jul 05, 2004 3:03 am

"Oh. The people I didn't really ask if I could go out would be my adoptive parents, Jim and Tracy (fairly common names..). They adopted me when I was a baby, and have cared for me ever since."

"The dreadful noise, the putrid smell, and the 'lifeless animals that can move', are all the same thing, cars. Careful, don't cross right now, wait until the green man comes on. They really aren't animals, but more examples of technology. It's the traffic I was talking about." When the walking signal came on, Tirea motioned for them to continue. "We just have to finish crossing this street, and then right two houses. Then it's my house."

While the cars were going, they were going to fast to see the Furres, but when they were stopped, and the three were crossing the street, they recieved strange looks. But Tirea took no notice of them, she, evidently, received them all the time.

*Sliding down the metal pipe, Oakleaf saw many figures beginning to move on the black stone below... they looked like mice... and then a terrible sound greeted her ears, a loud wailing and screeching and honking, as blue and red lights flashed down the street. She hid herself completely, losing all sight of the city below her and falling through the dark, cold and narrow metal space, landing with a clank on a similar tin metal surface. It seemed to be a catacomb of sorts, and it was too small for her to fit without drawing both wings and limbs close to the middle of the tunnel. A grating lay ahead on the floor of the tunnel, several yards forward. Slowly she inched towards it, to see her surroundings.*

((I'm going away for 3 days. Twizzler, can you take or Iaran for me while I'm gone? If not, can someone else please?))

Iaran nodded quietly, covering her ears with her paws, she slowly followed Tirea. When they had crossed the street she moved as far away from the traffic as possible and kept walking until she was standing outside Tirea's house.
