I have to find a math class to take for next year, having finished everything my school offers. Up to calculus. (which is probably more like pre calc) Online I think would be best for me, since we have a block schedule which gets pretty wacky.

Has anybody taken any or heard about any that were good? Please don't limit yourself to math, I'm considering programmin/computer science too.

Actually maybe just any online classes. I'm probably going to do my gold award project on something that involves listing them.

Free to all Florida residents, costs money for other students. It has a range of classes, including AP classes.

I gotta sign up for personal fitness on there *shakes head*. Desperately need to talk to my guidance counselor to make sure I'm allowed.

I hate online classes.The self-paced thing requires more organization than I'm cappable of. I'm currently enrolled in fitness lifestyle design for my team sports credit.
It's boring as HELL.
But I have an A. (barely.)

Yes, you have to be VERY organized. But, generally, it's only a few assignments/lessons a week.

Online classes are good, but you don't get the same experience as you do in school. They are the way of the future! (Now I have that line from the Aviator stuck in my head)

*nods* When I've been sick, I've had to take my own notes from the book...it's fine, but you miss the class discussion which raises other points that you wouldn't be learning about otherwise.

We have a chatroom and forum for every class. :0

Plus slide shows, Flash movies, and your teacher calls you for oral exams every so often.

I've looked at the Florida thing, but I'm in Nebraska and $800 is alot unless I can get the school to pay for it. Right now I'm looking at an AP Computer Science course from the university. I'm going to do a project compiling classes for other people at my school to take. Since we don't have very many.

So if you have any experiences specifically or recommendations or etc.... That would be very helpful!!!!

Taking University courses at a local college while in high school is definitely a great thing to do, if it's offered to you. The professors are a lot more professional than your typical high school teacher, and you tend to learn from a more in-depth cirriculum.

Common courses that this is done for include:
Calculus I, II, & III
Elementary Differential Equations
Physics I & II
General Chemistry I
Biology I
Intro to Computing (this may be called different things at different colleges, but an introduction to programming, usually with Java or C++).

Some people do that, but we live in a pretty small town, so the choices are limited. I know there's a speech class and college algebra. And we have a couple classes that can be taken for dual credit, like research.

I've been toying with the idea of taking an extra A-level, a remote learning one...need to read up on it.
