yes. it doesn't matter if they are trying to get a face card... if its a king, then they lay down two 6's in a row, then you still try to slap it.

its also called Egyption Ratrace, Ratscrew, and something else, i can't remember. Did I clairify anything at all?

Yeah, you did, thanks ^_^.

I can't wait to play that game at lunch time in the school year. Last year, all we played was Big 2 (got boring after a while), Up-and-down slap and Crazy Eights. Not speed because it was only a two-player game.

Anyone know what the difference between spit and speed is? I suppose it's just the opening layout.

Mao definitely. It's a ton of fun once you play a few rounds. :)

Boom-O! Like Uno only tangible! It's hilarious!

sorry, i can't help ya there... I've never heard of spit 0.o

anyways. have you ever played spoons? that is another great one to play with a group, as long as the group isn't that big- do you know how to play? We spent the last day of school sitting around a table playing it, but we used sharpies instead of spoons. :D it was great fun.

(it's almost addicting.)

do u want me to explain that?

lol

I will just becasue I feel like it.

SPOONS!
No. of players:
4-8 or 9. If you want more than that you need 2 decks of cards.

Supplies:
a deck of cards
if you play with 6 people, you need 5 spoons. (or markers or whatever you want to use.) So you have one less item then the number of people playing.

The Game:
Everyone sits in a circle. The spoons are layed out on the surface in the middle of the group, so that everyone is within arms difference of the spoons. The dealer gives each person in the circle 4 cards, and keeps the rest of the deck next to them.
What you want to do is get four of the same kind in your hand. The dealer starts the game by picking up a card from the deck, adding it to their hand, then picking one of the cards from thier hand to pass on to the next person. The next person picks up the card the dealer took out and sees if it is one that would help them get 4 of the same card. It moves around the circle, with a person grabing the card from the person on their left, and discarding one to their right.
When someone gets 4 of the same card, they grab one of the spoons. Once the players see that he/she had grabbed a spoon, the others fight for the other spoons. The person who doesn't get a spoon loses. You can play elimination, so when you lose your out, or just keep playing with all the people in.

WARNING: it is a very loud game. Whether you are fighting for spoons or slapping the table and yelling at the person to your left to hury up and give you another card.

If I left anything out I'm sorry.:D

Ah, I see, so it's like pig ;).

Eeee! I know that game!

The one where it's a 'snap' if it's something like 4 9 4?

Canasta.

It's the only thing I'm good at. I prefer not to play it with my mum or gram, though, as they beat me every time. :P

Pig drives me nuts. I hate pig.

Ah card games. I used to play alot... :)

I like to play this Asian game called 13, Killer, or Tien Len. I think it's kinda like Poker....in a way but with 13 cards. :3

I like to play Uno and Speed sometimes. Spoons! :o is a fun game.

I like to play Duckie!!! A great group game... So far, no one has mentioned it. Dang, I was just typing up the way Duckie works but it was too much. It's easier to explain in person. I wonder if anyone else knows this game... o_O

And there's another game I know of that I play sometimes. It's brutal though. Involves soothing/pounding/slapping/pinching other players.

And dang, I'm slow at it so I get hurt. ._.;;; Kay, this one might be easier to explain. Each card shape represents an action [ex: Heart-soothing] and each player picks up 4 cards. And the dealer gets the remaining pile to start. He picks up cards and passes them to the next person if the cards don't match what he wants. If he wants a card from the deck, he switches with one of the cards in his hand and passes it along. Always passing some card. Goes kinda fast here, depending on the players. The object of the game is to get a 4 of a kind. Maybe similar to other games.... Oh, I think the actions of this game adds a twist to the game Spoons. Cuz after you get a set of 4, you pick up a spoon/sharpie/item and the last person who doesn't get anything must get the actions of their cards done on their hand. [Ex: They have a Heart 4 so they get rubbed/soothed on their hand]. I can't remember which card shape goes with which action after the heart. xD;; But sooth, pound like a hammer, slap, and pinch are the four. Fun Fun .... o.o;;

I might be a lil rusty with the rules of that game...but that's like the jist. n____n;

-edit- this game above is called "Torture". I asked my sister. xP

I love playing cards. I know how to play a lot of card games, although I'm not very good at them all. My favorites are Gin Rummy, Speed, Hearts, B.S. and Spoons. I know how to play Bid Whist, Pinochle, Spades, Canasta, and some more, but I rarely do. As for Solitaire, I like Klondike and FreeCell.

On a side note, you can find rules to a ton of card games at http://www.pagat.cam

I love spoons, and what is apparently called pig XD

I'm also a fan of apples to apples. there are red cards and green cards [apples]. all the green cards are adjectives. the red cards are nouns, ie china, mona lisa, the midwest, my gym socks, or choirboys. everyone has seven red cards. a green card is turned over, and everyone has to pick a noun from their hand that they think best suits that adjective. then there's a judge who doesn't play, and they decide which red card fits best, and the person that played that red card gets to keep the green card, and becomes the judge for the next round. all the played red ones are discarded, and everyone draws more so they always have seven, until someone gets seven green cards.

it's fun because you have to know the judge. some people will be boring and will actually pick the best one, but others will choose the most random, or the most...uhh...suggestive.

much fun. woo!
