It could be something else. You could *think* you're upset about that but really be worried/anxious about something else. Is school starting? You could be anxious or scared about that. And I hate to sound like a parent here, but all teens occasionally feel like that, because of hormones.

However, if it happens a lot and nothing makes you feel better, and you become uninterested in what you used to be interested in, you could have depression. Talk to your parents and doctor. Now, I'm not a doctor or anything, I'm just suggesting that it's a possibility, so don't take my word for it. I actually was diagnosed with it at 12 and they later said it was 'serious depression.' They have medications for that type of thing. Don't let it control your life.

Sorry about my life story...I'm just talking about a worst-case scenario.

Thanks... I think I might have that depression thing that Zoloft cures. Since before my piano lesson yesterday, everything seemed to lose interest for me: Neopets, writing, even Evanescence! :o After my piano lesson I felt loads better, but then later that night I felt it again, and now I'm in that kind of mood again!

I don't think you have depression, but if you really want to make sure, ask a doctor.

I personally think you're simply being influenced by your feelings from this book and because of your "pain" from the ending, you're feeling bummed out. I bet this whole situation is a spin-off from that book and the feelings you felt while reading it. I wouldn't worry too much about this, I mean, perhaps you're actually losing interest in Neopets, writing and Evanescence because you don't like them anymore? Or maybe you're just bored with them, they're the same thing over and over again, one can get bored after a while.

I wouldn't stress out about it, you're just being influenced by that book.

Or you're having a mood swing.

Like Ammer said, you may not really have depression, I think.

I was actually depressed once, believe it or not. It wasn't official or anything, I didn't go see a doctor, but I do believe that I was (mildly) depressed. I'm all better now though. I was depressed because I was angry at my best friend for always going out with other people, and not with me, and I felt very lonely at times.

I think that if you let your emotions out and talk to other people about it, you'll feel much better. Another tip I can give you is that if something makes you sad, DON'T think about it much. Thinking about it would just make you, well, sadder. (When I was depressed, I kept thinking about everything that made me sad over and over again, and I discovered that if you don't force yourself into thinking about it so much, you feel much better)

Maybe you're just experiencing mood swings, as everyone else said. Anyways, keep being cheerful, it really helps =). And about the book thing, it's perfectly normal to feel sad about the ending, of course!

Being in seclusion usually brings about what you're going through. You said you have pretty much avoided human contact lately.
Reading the book and getting upset I believe came about because right now you don't have many people in your life due to the seclusion so you became dependent on these fictional characters (they were a substitution for real people) and since their ending was not happy you feel pain as if it were real people, like friends or family.
Starting school will probably change your depressed mood. You'll be out in the open, around others, you'll have assignments to think about, you'll make friends, you'll think about who you wanna vote for for Homecoming, etc. Should lift away this "depression".

You make it sound like I don't have any friends Jeff. :P

Anyway, I think I've basically worked down to the root of the problem: it probably isn't depression at all but more like anxiety. A lot of things have happened this summer that doesn't normally happen during other summers: my 1*th birthday, release of HBP, and release of Eldest. Now that they've all passed all I have to look forward to is school. I just keep thinking to myself: the only friend that lives close enough for me to actually hang out with will be coming back on Thursday and class lists will be posted for school on Friday, and then school starts next Tuesday. I know I shouldn't be looking forward to school, but I believe that this'll fill the void that's been missing over the summer, and this void, along with the anticipating with more unusual things during the summer, is what caused these random mood swings, which were influenced and fully released after Eldest.

Now I cringe at anything medieval-related or anything that reminds me of the book; even seeing the shopping bag that book came from makes me wince. Whenver I think about it I just feel a sort of emptiness; a sort of longing; but that might be because it left off on a cliffhanger yet again, and we don't really know much about the third and final book of the Inheritance (Eragon, Eldest, E... (possible Empire)) trilogy.

You were describing this "void"? I think I used to always feel that =[. It might be a sign of depression, I'm not so sure. Actually, I don't think it is. Sometimes, if you really want something to happen, then you get that voidy feeling. Like me, when I was younger. I watched Digimon and I really wanted to be a digi-destined XD. And then I got that voidy feeling.

Remember to live life to its fullest. Don't spend time dwelling on unhappy thoughts!

I used to be extremely depressed, but then I had a strange dream where people were dying and I could die and then I got scared and value life lots... Now I am depressed again o.o

But anyway, my advise. Live healthy.

Thats a really good way to be un-depressed (don't tell me thats not a word <_<), if you eat good, exercise and sleep right etc, You will be better... Unfortunately, getting healthy cn be rather depresing to do >.<

Thanks for your help everyone. :) I'm feeling a lot better today; perhaps it was just mood swings... I woke up at 8 and got up at 8:45, and I feel a lot better! :)

I wanted to be one too when I was younger, it was crushing when I realised it would never happen!

How do we know that SOME ONE in HBP really is dead? Is anyone really dead as long as they are remembered? Aren't there worse things than death?

He's dead because JKR said so. Yes, he is dead because his memories do not live on even if other's live on. Yes there are things worth than death, like Evanescence splitting up.

Now, let's move back to the more important factor: me. :P Kidding.

Sometimes, I get these really weird... weird... well, I wouldn't call it a headache. There are two hard lumps behind each of my ears, and sometimes, like when I'm really hot or have something wrapping my head and then drastically move to a colder enviroment, then they just start to, well... ache with pain. Usually when I go to bed it feels a lot better, but it has happened at school, except the pain was so acute I had to go take some Advil since I had a history test later. I don't think that has anything to do with my lovely new-found mood swings, but... meh.

Haha, I have those too, sometimes. I don't think it has anything to do with mood swings or whatever, I think you just need more sleep. Or less time facing the computer, whatever works. I find it helps if you just close your eyes for a little while or massage your head with your thumbs.
