Gwen Stefani did deserve to win, in my opinion. Ah well.

I only saw a bit with some randomers doing a boring tribute to some dead rappers and turned it off.

Eh, I heard that she wanted to snub the awards cause she wasn't allowed to perform. Apparently MTV doesn't like any performances from performers at the Teen Choice Awards (which Gwen Stefani opened for), according to some article I read.

It might be the case, but I wouldn't be so sure.

For example, it's well known that the BBC news team only bother to properly turn up for an awards show if they've got a fantastic chance of winning/know they've wone.

I doubt the results are a shock to the winners.
