There's never been a problem at my school with freshman. Though maybe it's because that 7th, 8th, and 9th graders are in one building, and 10th, 11th, and 12th graders are in the other.

I started high school this year too and I've been in it for about a month already and I don't think you'll be harrassed by the upperclassmen. The most harrassment I've gotten so far was someone at the bus stop complaining about how the freshmen were making the bus crowded XD. As long as you don't go picking a fight with anyone older than you I'm sure you'll be fine.

And try not to act immature around them, I've heard the upperclassmen complaining about the freshmen because they're immature so if you're not immature they shouldn't have much of a reason to pick on you.

Honestly,it's not that bad. All the upperclassmen who have picked on me were doing it nicely..not bullying. I was scared on my first day too, but it's alot better now..more freedom too!
