I'm in middle school, and I can't stand the fact that 3/4 of the girls in my grade are all influenced by the "popular" people and think that they have to dress and act like them in order to be "in". I personally don't believe in this, and neither do my two best friends. The only thing is that if you're not popular, people label you as ugly or nerdy. There's no inbetween. I can't believe how many people go out and buy things they don't even like, just so they won't be made fun of. A lot of people at my school judge you by the way you look, and don't even get to know you first before spreading rumors. My best friend and I hung out a lot last year, and someone told us that someone was spreading a rumor about us being "more than friends", if you know what I mean. I got really, really mad over that and I couldn't believe someone would spread around something so hurtful. I usually don't care if someone says I'm ugly or anything like that, considering I'm not the most gorgeous person around, but getting treated some kind of slimy creature just because your shoes aren't the same exact shade of blue as your shirt is a bit ridicoulous. I just wish everyone would actually be judged by the way you act and your personality, NOT the way you dress. D:

They'll realize later that those things they did in the past were dumb, well hopefully they will realize. The world outside of highschool, or any school is much different. It's sad that it happens, but it always does, everyone usually has a crowd to hang out with. Just don't let these things get to you, you be the one that makes a difference and talks to whoever you want to nerdy or not. Don't let them make you feel like you can't hang out with your friends.

My bestfriend was a girl and we hung out so much I'm sure people thought we were lesbian lovers, I heard hints of that being said once or twice about us. That didn't make me stop from hanging out with my friend and having a good time with her. I'll remember as well that she was the popular in girl and eventhough she took the guys I liked (Unfortunately I can't blame her since I don't think she realized what she was doing, sometimes people do things without realizing if it affects others. :P), she still hung out with me regardless if I wasn't as popular.

"not the smallest iota"

I have always wanted to pick up the newest issue of a fashion magazine, then start handing out tickets to those people who don't comply by the rules.

I'm not very stylish, though. Half my clothes are more than a year old and my other ones are like from TK Maxx or the like. :-/

Just wear what you want. I mean, clothing is clothing. O_O Be glad that you have time to do other things that the people who obsess over what others wear can't do.

What I do is laugh in their face hysterically until they're feeling too embarrased to attempt at annoying me. Works for all insults. Clothing, looks, financial situations. It's all good.

Yeah, my clothes aren't exactly the most fashionable, but I like the way I dress. I wear boys shoes, and these girls are like, having heart attacks over it. XD It's kind of funny actually, to see how they react. But I swear, the popular girls could come to school wearing a plastic bag, and the next day almost everyone else would, too.

Unfortunately, this problem is not limited to wear you go to school. I remember that being an issue when I was in middle school as well. However, in my experience, once I got to high school, people seemed to start caring less and less about the fashion of those around them. And I honestly had no idea if the "popular" kids from middle school were still even at the same school as I was. Groups started blending together more and more, and it seemed like there was much less of a hierarchy as we all matured. While most people (not me) followed fashion magazines, etc, they didn't base their choices on what one or two girls/guys were wearing anymore. Fashion was important to a lot of people still, but I for one didn't get treated badly because I wore Star Wars t-shirts and jeans everyday.

A lot of girls at my school are a bit violent. Just the other day I was walking to my next class and this girl shoved this boy into the middle of the hallway and I nearly tripped over him. D:

If you wear boy shoes, it doesn't matter. Much better for defending yourself than girl shoes.

go for boots.
Reinforced toe caps.
and Drop-kick them.
took four. months for my ribs to heal.
ofcourse that was nothing to do with Fashion, and probably isnt advisable anyway.

I wear them because they're a lot more comfortable (I have wide feet) and I like the way they look. A lot of the shoes in my size come with like, flowers and junk on them that I can't stand. D: My feet are really small for my age.

I do have a pair of boots, I don't wear them very often, though.

 If I kicked someone in my school, I'd get suspended. My parents would murder me.

At my middle school, dress was important, but not as important as the guile and the treachery of a drow.*

You'd have the table full of the elites and their abused sycophants; then you'd have the table with the ordinary people overseen by people outside the cool crowd who were nonetheless iron-fisted enforcers; then you'd have the nerds table. This consisted of three people, including me. At least your school has nerds, Labbiedor.

*Drow: A subterranean elf with black skin originally found in Dungeons and Dragons. Drow live in cities with a rigid structure of ranked Houses. To advance a rank, Houses higher up in the hierarchy must be destroyed. There is a similar hierarchy within Houses. In the world of the drow, friendships last only as long as they benefit both parties, elements of the culture are constantly brow-beaten that they are inferior, and the long arms of the nobles reach every aspect of the city.

(They also consider spiders holy creatures. Just thought I'd point that out.)

Do what you will; but I will hinder it if I may.

My friends and I have a weird sense of humor. We love to act stupid and be sarcastic and make jokes. XD Sometimes some of the popular kids had to sit with us (there was no more room for them to sit in the cafeteria) and they stared at us like we were mental. :P
