I can't seem to get myself excited about Evanescence. I think it's because I've heard bands with a similar style that are a lot better. Plus, Amy Lee doesn't seem to use her voice to it's full potential, which is quite sad.

Their lyrics are not gothic. If you have listened to them and understood them than you'd know their lyrics are anything but gothic. They might have references to God, Christ etc... but it's not in a negative way.

Hence the sarcasm, I believe.

For one, being Lacuna Coil. I do like Evanescence, but they have ripped off Lacuna Coil, who I adore.

I don't think they directly ripped them off, they just found a way to make a similar sound mainstream. Although, similar does not by any means equal better. >.<

Right on the money Igg. Of course I don't believe that they're gothic, because that's a ridiculous stereotype.

You gotta love the hardcore angst filled lyrics! They're right up there in the ranks with Gawthcore screamo bands. *cough*Linkin Park*cough*

I don't have a real personal thing against them however, they marketed an image, and it makes them money, so why not?

That is true. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Amy Lee says she's not expecting this album to sell better than Fallen not because the music is worse, just because it might 'die out'.

For the record, I would like to agree with Igg and Angus.

Different band, but I was listening to a local talk radio station and they overlayed all of Nickelback's hit songs to see if they were identical. The DJs discovered that they apparently have two formulas for their songs and although some of the music/lyrics were different the songs had the same build up speeds, order of verses and chorus, and the same tempos..

It was quite hilarious actually. Especially when they were playing the songs from the two groups all at once. They were literally the same song with different words. >.<

I'll probably definitely get this upcoming CD (considering I don't go broke by then) because though I hear they're not-so-great live, the CD vocals and songs are still enjoyable.

^-^? I might not if everyone @ school is all for it.

They're actually awesome live...I just went to their concert last night (featuring Seether and The Trews) and they were great. Their live performance didn't stray too far from their recorded performances, but had good variance.

I should probably end up getting this next CD too, although I don't have Fallen. Perhaps I'll buy both.

I finally decided to buy Fallen a few days ago, and am currently obsessed with it. ^.^ I'm definitely going to have to get the next album.
