I can't seem to log in without the dreaded cannot find server error.

All images using that site aren't loading for me either.

I was wondering if it's just the computer I'm using or if it is really down?

I also cannot log into my free webs account. Is free webs down too?

Amyone else having problems with either site?

I haven't been able to view Photobucket stuff this morning either. I figured it had something to do with the Mac they force me to use at work (I'm a PC girl), but it looks like that isn't the case.

Not sure about the Freewebs though.

Well I have another hobby and I was going to upload a pict for it, but since I couldn't get into photobucket, I thought I could try frewebs to see if I could upload it there, because I happen to have an account I hadn't used.

But unfortunatly I can't log in there either.
I did a google to see if it is a general problem, but I had trouble finding out.

It seemed one site had the issue since oct 3, so if free webs has been down, it may have been down for a while.

It just that I have two computers in different places. The one I'm on is an old unstable windows 98 machine that could crash at any moment. Ideally I wanted to get the image uploaded so I could deal with it on my other computer which is the one I prefer to use on the internet.

But I guess that will have to wait. Luckily I managed to get off my lazy rear and download the drivers for my flash drive so I can try again this afternoon when I get on my other computer.

Something is definitely going on - I cannot access Photobucket at all - not my album, not the forum, not the blog, not even the mod log in page.

Theimagehosting.com is also apparently down.

The only image host at the moment I know is up (besides all you lucky ducks with your own host/server) is imageshack.us.

I wonder if someone decided to have "fun" and hit some of the bigger image hosts with ddos attacks, has been done before.

Just found this out - don't know exactly what it means, but it's bigger than Photobucket:

There is a network issue between Cogent and Level 3. That is causing issues through out the internet - this page shows something? showing the level 3 being n/a and Sprint is all red (whatever that means).

I've been having a few problems with FreeWebz, when I try to create a page. I'm not having any problems with Photobucket, but I'm on Linux.

You're a mod in photobucket?

What a bummer that photobucket is down. Luckily I still have the screen cap for the deserted tomb, but I guess I'll have to wait a few days before I can upload anything again. *sigh*

Interesting grid thingy.

Well, my signature and avatar are hosted there and I can still see them, but I have't tried logging in yet. Perhaps it's only affecting some accounts?

"img.photobucket.com could not be found"

Your sig and avatar don't work for me either. Perhaps you're running your images from your cache. If you clear your cache, you'll probably find it not working for you either.

You use the same photobucket server I have.

Mine is also img.photobucket.

I've always wondered why some people have i8 some have img. I guess it is just what server is available at the time you signed up? o_O

Edit:

Imageshack sucks. I had to say yes to a bunch of spam bots in order to register. I gave up. It looked like the list would continue. Now I'm going to be spammed :(

The i8 or whatever is the server you're assigned to when you sign up. I have an older PB account, so I'm just img.

It's not just the bucket that's down, there are a number of sites down, getting that page cannot be displayed message.

I think from what I've found talking to a few people that it may be a US thing, someone I know in Canada is able to access the PB forums, blog, etc. I see NO photobucket, imagehosting.com or some other sites. I guess they're all using the same ... whatever?

Never registered for imageshack, too lazy and too much to try to keep track of.

I have img as well. I saw a few that were plain photobucket.com. Those must be the oldest accounts or something. What you said was what I was thinking or had a hunch. What clued me to it is sometimes they say they are doing work on the img server so people with that server may have some problems, etc.

I started up around last year or so. Of course I can't check the month I joined. I wish I could have a second account with a different username (some name I don't use on forums, etc) but they don't allow multiple accounts so now google pins me in my tracks because it happens to show up on the search wherever I happened to use an image.

Greater problem than photobucket? This is where the plot gets more interesting.

Time to solve the mystory

Afternoon all (it's around noon here) ... I just went back to the scoreboard page and Cogent is still showing red in the same 2 squares. I also googled Cogent. There's a Cogentco addy, went by the description and that site will not come up either. Getting the page cannot be displayed.

So, whatever's going on, it's apparently still a problem -- and it's not on Photobucket's end. I also just tried to go to Link Not Allowed (since that was mentioned) and nothing happens.

Covered in Slashdot's or The Register's articles.

(Photobucket is connected to the internet through Cogent (only, it seems), people connecting through Level3 may have difficulties accessing it)

Photobucket is working on things -- http://blog.photobucket.com/

And I think ISPs are working on things too. I use roadrunner (time warner) and I can now see images, access my album, the blog and the forum. It's 8:06 p.m. est here.

So, if you still can't access Photobucket or other sites, try getting in touch with your isp to see if they're working on another way around this mess.
