I felt it was deserved. She was having a go at me for abusing this woman, who by everyone's admittance, was a massive.... cranberry. I couldn't tolerate this. It's like me having a go at you for calling a violent racist a...cranberry, claiming that you were no different.

Whether or not you feel it deserved, it doesn't make it right. Two wrongs don't make a right and all that? Taking the moral highground?

BOTHERED?
There's like 3 people on here whose opinion of me I'm interested in, morningstar, twinkle, and myself. Public opinion of me doesn't count. Since I love myself and I'll call twinkle whatever I like, it's only morningstar I have to behave for.

Actually, people's opinion of you DOES matter in this case, because you're on a public forum with a team of staff who take these things into account. Just be a bit more respectful, for crying out loud, even if people aren't to you.

No I didn't mean to call her a cranberry, but I found that to be a vaguely humourous substitute for the word I was thinking of. Hopefully you'll agree.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I've tried not to let it get to me but I'm always thinking about what she called me and the way she glared at me before saying it. My manager has reported her though so that's good.
It went fine today, with the woman but this guy came in instead and was trying to donate a pushchair and we can't sell those and he said "not good enough for you?" leered at me and walked off. I guess I will encounter this kind of stuff from working in a shop. I've got to learn not to be so sensitive about things.
