Does anyone know where there is a guide on how not to laugh?

I'm tired of ruining my drama by laughing in the middle of it, we always do a funny one but I can't stop myself.

If anyone has tips as well I'd appreciate them.

Thanks.

I always used to get the giggles during funny pieces of drama. I usually just grit my teeth, act deadpan and really try and get into character. I'm sorry I can't be of any more help!

But we only have about 4 people, and I usually play multiple characters, which is even funnier. I can't act deadpan because I need to have lots of different expressions, and I think I'm trying to find excuses on why it wouldn't work. Thanks anyway, :D

My teacher says I get caught up in the excitement of the drama, it's my favourite lesson.

I have to refrain myself from laughign -alot- since I get myself into waay too many situations where people make me do the hillarious parts; simply because they know I love it really :P Try taking a deep breath and focusing your gaze on something not funny. Tell yourself clearly in your head not to laugh. :)

I corpse like mad.

I always end up biting my lip and a quick look away from the audience in a desperate attempt to calm down. We always did comedies in drama and it was a nightmare- but I suppose it was good that we found ourselves funny.

Have you ever seen Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail? In the 'she's a witch' scene, you can see Eric Idle at one point biting on his scythe- it's to stop him laughing.

Now Igg, you just freaked me out. The whole drama we did today was copying from the Holy Grail, I brought a Horse and coconuts. We even called it Monty Python and the Holey Island. I haven't seen the films but I plan to.

Hold your breath. And surpress it, if you do it well enough, nothing will come out. (It'll come out your nose if you dont do it right). I'm not sure how to explain it, but take a small breath, and just hold the air in the top of your mouth.

Think about how stupid everyone is, and that their humour just bounces off you. Even when I'm depressed or angry, I still can't help but laugh at things. I have to be really really depressed/angry for me to be immune to laughter.

You can also turn laughs into a sneer and hmmpf, if that's any better.

Thanks everyone for helping, I'm gonna try and be more evil in the thing so a sneer wouldn't be out of place. I can't wait for next lesson, things will change.

Yes, you should. Some prime examples of corpsing, if you can spot them. If you watch it with commentary on, they do mention it too. :)

Dudley Moor was the worst for corpsing. He used to just burst out laughing in the middle of scenes.

Well, my friend just so happens to be the master at keeping a straight face. He can say literally anything without even cracking up the slightest bit. I'm not sure how he does it, so I'll ask him tomorrow, but I think if you just practice through it without laughing, you'll just get more and more used to it. Try saying totally outrageously funny things while trying not to crack up, that might help your repression skills.

Play London Gaurd, eventually you'll get it.

But geez, I know what you mean. Two hilarious presentations in school today, one where someone said "This is a quote" at the begginning of his presentation, said "This is the end of the quote" at the end and gave a website. The other guy said, every other word, I don't know what word that is.
Almost burst out laughing.

Don't look at whoever you think might be smiling unless you have to. It makes it 10x worse.
