When REM and Sesame Street covered Shiny Happy People and it turned into Fuzzy Happy Monsters, that was a good moment.

I mean, it was no Doin' The Pigeon, but it was up there.

Don't be afraid to see the truth, even if no one wants you to. Be yourself and not a fool. Don't ever be afraid to speak your mind and listen to criticism. Dissent is keeps our country progressive and willingness to challenge yourself is what keeps yourself ever evolving.

Better late than never, **mauls**

You know, I just can't stand to hear songs that mean so much to me being sung by anyone other than Bono or The Edge. I knew this would never change when I didn't enjoy hearing Matchbox Twenty (my second favourite band) singing Where The Streets Have No Name.

One - R.E.M

Strictly speaking, that wasn't technically R.E.M., that was half of R.E.M. (Michael Stipe and Mike Mills), and half of U2 (Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr.), and they cleverly called themselves Automatic Baby (a combination of Automatic For The People and Achtung Baby, which were albums by both bands, respectively).[/endhistorylesson]

And I actually don't mind this version all that much, because Michael Stipe is amazing, but still ;P

My choices:

Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley (originally by Leonard Cohen) --- I love this song way too much, oddly enough, I like it loads better than the U2 cover of this song ;P

Night And Day by U2 (originally by Cole Porter) --- They've taken a showtune ballad and turned it into something dark and primal, it's quite awesome.

Pop Muzik by U2 (originally by Robin Scott) --- This song is so totally out of character for U2, and it's just freaking awesome. There's an extra special reason I love it, but it's not PPT appropriate, so I'll shut up now ;P

99 Red Balloons by Goldfinger (originally by Nena) --- I have an unhealthy fascination with this song, all versions of it really. But I do enjoy the Goldfinger version quite a bit.

Mad World by Gary Jules (originally by Tears For Fears) --- Anyone that's seen Donnie Darko will know this version. I love it. Random fact: The first time I heard it, I was sure it was Michael Stipe singing.

I don't care who flames me for this, but I like 'Tragedy by Steps'. But don't worry, it's the only song by them I like.

Oh haha, I didn't know that. That's even cooler, two of my favourite bands, combined! <3

Ah, but can you do the dance to it?

I associate that song with old school discos way back and some dodgy outfits.

Ahh, I remember that. It reminds me of a pub I used to go to - I'd be there dancing to that on a Saturday night, those were the days :P

I thought of some more I like. :)

Little Wing - The Corrs
Little Wing - Stevie Ray Vaughan. Haha, two very different versions. :)
The Man Who Sold The World - Nirvana. I can't believe I forgot to mention that one, I love it. <3
Baker Street - Foo Fighters (the only thing it really lacks to be truly brilliant is that saxophone, but you can't compete with the original for that)
Smile Like You Mean It - David Gray. I was surprised at how good it was. :)

I quite like the Scissor Sisters's version of 'Take Me Out' by Franz Ferdinand too.
