Keyboard cleaning tips?

1) Consider to get one of those keyboards which are easily cleanable. Doesn't need to be touch-screen or expensive there are also similar (but cheaper) types on market too.
2) Buy a cheap (e.g. non-multimedia) keyboard and replace it every 6 months (is the time required to clean it worth the money?)
3) Get a bunch-o second hands and use one every month.
4) Use a q-tip or sth similar. Alcohol or sth containing that works well, but even some soaps do the job too. You can take out the keys just fine for example with a knife or screwdriver. Some advice: get a QWERTY layout of the Net and print it out or keep it opened in your browser/image_viewer just in case. Also, be careful taking out the spacebar, shifts, enters and plus_on_keypad (the right + above enter), insert_on_keypad (the ins left of del) and perhaps the caps lock as well -- i'm not sure on that one. YMMV too as no keyboard is exactly the same. Those keys are entrenched in the keyboard by a hook, so carefully whip these out not using too much force. Eventually grab the keys around these out first. Examine the first one you grab out or consider using an old keyboard as test-board (*grin*).

Whatever it is gonna be, keyboards and mouses are one of the most disgusting parts in your house. Keep that in mind when you are busy w/hygiene (cooking, eating, washing, etc). Consider to stop or lessen consuming drinks, foods or smoking (!!!) behind the computer. It really helps a lot!

i'm not gonna keep buying new keyboards!! i dont have money to throw away!!!
