Bidding on a Frozen Account

What happens if you bid on an item in the auctions and the account has been frozen?? Do you get the item?? or just loose your NP's???

happened to you ? That's very unlucky if it has. I'm not sure but i think it's a 50-50 chance of getting it.

There is a Sword of Skardsen in the auctions and the account offering it has been 'disabled' The current price is only 1,800,000

I guess you still get it but I wouldn't risk it though. The items in the account still take up space in their database so it still exists.

For that price, it almost sounds like a Dupped...but! I don'tsee why this person woul ask for their accoutn to be disabled after they placed this up for auction....

Think about why a frozen account would have such cheap items in the auction. Especially if it was right before it got frozen.

Don't touch it, it's not worth the problems that may arise.

An account on an item I already bid on was frozen. I got the item, but was very very worried at the time.

Ah, you saw that board too? I was on the BDC last night and saw that someone's brother had gotten onto their account, auctioned a SOS for 1,080,00 and self-froze the account. (Not going to post any names).

I highly, highly doubt it was a dupe. This person was a well-known BDChatter.

I don't know that I'd bid on that. First there is the possibility that since the account's frozen you'll end up losing your np and not get the SOS. Then there's the possibility that you'll end up frozen for ... I'm going to guess ... scamming or cheating.

I'm sure if this person is well known and has friends that some of them will try to bid on the sword to try to return it to him. Sometimes that works out great and other times, the person who tried to do a good deed ended up being punished (frozen) for it.

Well, it would be my guess that if tnt have been clever about it it is probably designed so that if you bid before the account is frozen you get the item but if you bid after the account is frozen then you don't get the item.

I have no idea if that is how it works but that's how I would have made it anyway

Probably best to just stay clear methinks in any case.

That wouldn't be too clever... then someone who stole an account could put an item in cheaply, bid a tiny amount, then freeze.

Probably the best thing to do would be to just close an auction and return all bids the moment the auctioner got frozen. This way you ensure any items stay where they're supposed to be, and no one gets harmed. Obviously, though, that's not what happens.

I'd say if you haven't had any previous contact with the person, and your account's generally free of badness, you should be fine bidding. After all, what if you never looked at the lookup in the first place, never even knew they were frozen? Would you get punished for that? I would hope not. On the other hand, it will probably draw attention to your account, and if you've been doing other suspicious things, it's probably best to stay away.

If someone is in the account already there are many much easier ways for them to get the item...

Let's face it most people check the user before buying an item. I know I do, I wouldn't be putting in an offer on a multi million item for example if the account was 1 day old. If the account is frozen though and you place a bid on the item it really is your responsibility to check the state of the account... like the OP has done in this case. They should just lock auctions that occur with items on frozen accounts and give users their money back... that though would probably slow everything down too much depending on how often it happens. But those who do offer for items on frozen accounts are being opportunistic in tnt's eyes I would think.

If you know an account has been frozen though then you know the risk you are running. That kind of profit may be tempting but the much more probable lost is a sufficient deterrant in my opinion, in other peoples opinion it may not

I should say that it was a LONG time ago when I won a frozen account auction. They might ahve changed things significantly since then. Somebody reminded me that that was before they even updated the auction house!

I truly hope that they change it so the auction is actually cancelled and everybody who bids gets thier np back.

Well the winner legendracer5 ended up putting the sword up for auction about 10 munites after it closed, so I guess that answeres the question. If the account is frozen you can still bid on the item. You get the item, and your NP's are taken from you. Where the NP's go only the person who knows how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsi-Pop knows.
