Xmas. I love seeing beautifully lit houses, covered with snow at night.

I love Christmas time, but it's also sad because my family doesn't really celebrate anymore. My parents probably think my sister and I are too old. ;o; We're never too old for Christmas.... *sighs* No prezzies here.

That's how I feel. Part of it has to do with the old tradition my family had before my dad passed away when I was in high school. Every Christmas Eve, he, my mother, and I (my brothers are a lot older than me, and thought it was 'lame' so they didn't go) would pile into our Escort stationwagon and drive around to look at the Christmas lights. My father was a rural carrier (mailman in the country), so he knew where all the great light displays were that weren't in town. It was so wonderful. We'd turn on a country station that only played Christmas carols on Christmas Eve and day and would drive around for hours on end. I still remember how it would look if it started snowing and Dad would turn on the brights. It always reminded me of the starlines when one would jump to hyperspace in the Star Wars movies. I always loved that.

So anyway, Christmas is my favorite holiday. And it was always Christmas Eve that meant the most to me, with the viewing lights, going to a late evening church service, etc. Christmas Day usually involved a bit too much yelling by my mother to truly be enjoyable, although I love seeing what people think of the gifts I got them. I never ask people what they want for Christmas, I always try to come up with the perfect gift on my own. It's just so much more rewarding for me that way.

I love Christmas. My family opens presents on Christmas Eve because when my brother and I were little, we'd have to go to church at like 7:00 that night and sing for the choir, and we'd get back and we couldn't wait until morning. Now we go to church at midnight so we open presents at like, 2:00 in the morning. And I remember my best friend coming over a couple of years because her family is Jewish and doesn't do Christmas, so she'd come to our house and have Christmas with us.

Halloween and Beltane for me :)

I started actively disliking Thanksgiving and Christmas when I was 10, by the following year I loathed both -- still do.

I quite like Christmas. It's less about the presents themselves, and more about the surprise of not knowing what I'm gonna get. I got some great presents last year, but I knew what they all were before I opened them, so it wasn't as awesome.
The stockings are fun too! My aunt puts together stockings for everyone (adults included) and inside the stocking, all the goodies are individually wrapped, and everyone has an equal number.
Then we have to play a trivia game (we use the question cards from the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire board game) and we go around the room answering questions. If you answer correctly, you get to open one thing. If not, you have to wait until your next turn. The first person to get everything in their stocking opened gets a special prize.
I usually win ;P

Christmas, definately! There's nothing better than waking up on Christmas morning to go out into your living room and find tons of presents under the tree =) I also love decorating the Christmas tree with my family and listening to Christmas music while I'm drinking hot chocolate. :P
