Neocolours gone forever?

#1 Post by Butterflyhornet »

I looked up their main site and it redirects me to this url: http://raq2001.uk2.net/ (something to do with Cobelt and thanks for choosing them for the domain)

and the forum says file not found when I go there.

Is there no hope of them returning?

Odd that I never read any warnings on their site or forum that they were closing down. :o Did I miss it? o_O

This happened once before.. I think it'd come back? Do you know about the neocolours livejournal community?

That's where we go when the site is down, and where we'll announce when/if we create a forum elsewhere. We believe that the servers are being updated or some such. As mentioned time and time again, we have absolutely zero control of the main site or the forums. Sam, the site creator and owner, is the only person who can make changes to either one and he's been awol for months now if it hasn't been a full year. The last time he came around was to add camoflauge and custard to the site.

Looks like a server change.

Yup I think it's just a server upgrade, that's a far shinier server than the one the site was on last time. Which would be good news ^^

So hopefully it will be back soon going uber fast *crosses fingers*

So, is there a reason no one is really "close" to the owner or that no one else has control over the site while he's gone? I mean, the entire point of having a site like that is to inform people and if he's only going to appear every so often (maybe there's a good reason, idk) he should allow someone else to help take care of the site.

We're not exactly like other Neopets fansites. Sam is pretty much our lazy benevolent dictator as he created the site, the scripts, and hosted everything on his own. He set up a comment system which allowed anyone and everyone to post, and only created the forums after the comments on new colors exploded into thousands of replies. He didn't set out to create a community, we just sort of happened. It's not as if we don't want the site and forum up and running, but more often than not when the site is down his email is down because it's hosted on the same server. Long story short, yes it would be nice to have access, but we don't and are still working out what to do in the meantime.

I miss the conveniance of seeing the unreleased colors the most as well as the older poses and the comapre feature. I've seen it sort of doen in other sites, but not the same.

I used to use The Neopian Palette whenever Neocolours was down or slow, but it seems to be broken right now, unfortunately. It was a good site, too.

I'm still getting that neocolours is down. Is there anywhere to see petpets in colors anywhere else?

Petpet Central has a complete petpet database searchable by colour, type, rarity, name etc, and a complete pet database to match :)

Neocolours will be coming back but their petpet part of the site had not been kept up to date in quite some time. Here's hoping it will be back soon though, it's the only site that finds new pet colours automatically rather than manually.

Edit: hee, thanks Anoohilator ^^

In Trick's signature is a website with a petpet DB. She posted somewhere up there :)

EDIT: Trick beat me to it :)

From a recent fiasco in NNN, The Neopian Palette can now be found at http://neolodge.com/tnp/
