I think many people are going to die in the following 6th and 7th books. It's casualties of war, obviously.

Although Sirius was a character I really liked, I guess if I want to see more of him I'm reread the third and fourth books.

:o :o But why would you want to think about who it might be? You know you're wasting your life. :roflol:

I don't have a life anyway, so I may as well waste it.

I'm hoping for next summer, but that's a stretch. No official release date yet...

Anyway, I think 6 will be crucial too.

Yep. This was on Mugglenet news:

Thank you very much for your letters. I am currently working hard on the sixth Harry Potter book and enjoying the writing more than ever; Hopefully this means that it will be enjoyable to read! I am however increasingly conscious that I am nearing the end of the series. The last two books seem almost like two halves of the same novel, because so much that happens in six is related to what happens at the very end of the story. Thank you again for writing. It means the world to me that Harry's fans take the time and trouble to let me know how much they like him.

With love from,
JK Rowling

*rants* BRING BLACK BACK!

Anyway, I think Hermonie and Ron "die" in the 7th book, and Harry has to save them, and saving his friends gives him anger he uses on Voldemort who killed his friends.

Also, I think the HBP is somebody we would NEVER suspect. Somebody NOBODY would EVER think of. Like Ron's parents or one of the Hogwarts teachers. I could be ANYBODY (except Voldemort and Harry of course).

It's been one year since the OotP book was released! NOW WHERE'S LUCKY NUMBER SIX?

*Joins the ranting* BRING BLACK BACK!

Ron's family is definately out. Their full bloods, remember? One of the teachers... possibly. Maybe the new DADA teacher... Hmmm...

Who this prince is- My guess is that it's a metaphor. Seriously, having any character be a prince, out of the blue, would make me want to throw my copy of the book in the trash, retreat into a dark cave and never touch anything HP-related ever again.

Oh Alex, I'd be surprised if you ever did that my dear. XD

I'm not going to forward any views (most already have been forwarded). I liked the idea of it being someone we already knew, but otherwise unimportant in the otehr books. JK Rowling does her job of concealing plots well, remember that, and the notice could be another mislead on her behalf. Then again, I don't think she's that mean. ;)

Oh well. Guess we'll have to wait until it comes out then. Better make sure you're on the Amazon mailing list for when it's released. 0:)

And I like the idea also of the title referring to the new DADA teacher. Hey. I like bandwagons too. :battar:

Oh...yes. They're full-blooded. Hmmmmm...maybe the caretaker of Hogwarts? We don't know much about him at all.

*would join the ranting if it were any use at all*

A gossip item from 'way back that many seem to have forgotten is that someone would tap their magical power "quite late in life"... that could certainly be Filch. Gives that theory some credence.

I don't get how "prince" is used metaphorically, though, though I know it is because of the book title "Every Spy a Prince" I kept glancing at on the shelf at my old house. Care to enlighten me? Might help.

That's what I said! Filch, the caretaker of Hogwarts! We know almost nothing about him!

Have any of you considered the option that Dudley Dursley is the Half Blood Prince? Lily, his aunt, was a witch. Isn't it probable that the reason Petunia hates her sister so much is because she was born a Squib? The word 'Prince' could allude to how spoilt he is.

In the 5th book (spoiler):

Dumbledore sends Petunia a howler that says, 'REMEMBER MY LAST, PETUNIA". Is it possible that in return for keeping Harry, Dumbledore agreed not to send Dudley his Hogwarts letter? I doubt Petunia would keep Harry out of the goodness of her heart or for her sister's sake. Also, when Dudley was attacked by the demetor, he was horribly affected. Perhaps Dudley's terrible memory had something to do with him being a wizard?

(It's safe to read, now)
It's a probable theory. Rowling rarely puts details in her books for no reason. It's a possibility.

the letter from the vampiric fly, dumbldore (now if you got that you are a TRUE tolkien nerd) was explained, i forget about what and why but it was..i think  .
black.. prior incantartum, he'llb e bak with a nifty spell with anoter name than thatun (she used it already, incorrectly i might add)
as for the mirror dumbldore said something along the lines of "do you think the order of the phoenix has no other ways of communicating than flu network and owls?" the mirror is a communication device, i cant be the only to see how something like that would be immensly useful?

first, as a draco fan, my statement on the next two books: If Draco dies I'm chucking the book at the wall.
Leaving that aside.

I have no clue, but Hagrid seems a fair choice. Think back to GoF, Rita Skeeter said he was son to the famous giantess Fridwulfa. Maybe she was famous because she was royal???? who knows.

Edit: I hope Alfonso Curon does NOT direct OoP. Did you know he did not read PoA?

That. Is a very good point.

If it happens, then it would be an awesome twist. Something that nobody, except you Fidds, saw coming.
