By (Insert Omnipotent Being Here)! Remember to update your spyware definitions.

Over the past week my computer was getting slower and slower, I spybotted and Adawared it every day finding 5 or so bits of spyware each day. Today my computer was down to a crawl and the internet refusing to work. I remembered I hadn't updated adaware in a few weeks and when I did, low and behold there was 56 little buggers, mainly hiding in my registry. Once they were gone the computer perked up and the nets working again.

Share any virus and spyware stories you have to tell if you want.

I have a bad story:

Well okay, my dad scanned my computer because programs were trying to access the internet, so we permantly blocked them all, and guess what? I can't get to the internet!...so he scans it with Adware 6, he scans it a few times and he finds about a 100 items, litterately computer hijacker programs on there, boy am I glad he ever did....

Heh, Tales from the Comp...but mine would go like this:

Its was the hay day of the Kazaa revolution, and like most other people we had it on our computer, all kindsd of wierd stuff kept happening (like people downloading naughty little things when no-one was even on the computer) And countless others, pop ups coming from thin air, when the internet was not up. I checked my add/remove program list and found some Gator and Spyware crap downloaded onto my computer I deleted it, thought all was well. Some days later my homepage was hi-jacked, I couldn't get it back for anything. Heard of a little thing called Ad-Aware through the neopets grape vine...and downloaded it, scanned and found all kinds of crap, up in 160's if you like to believe, my computer moved much better afterwards :D

Try googling for an answer?
Or on Adaware, choose the 2nd option instead of the first when you click Scan Now, click Customize, and check every possible box. That might help.

Anyway...My story? Kiddies, iMesh is BAD. Don't ever use it. We had to reformat our computer after it screwed it up >.<

Gone, forever.

On the last few checks, Spybot's been turning up nothing for me... I'm starting to get rather suspicious...

And for some reason, Adaware won't work on my computer.

For the most part the only "spyware" that shows up are certain tracking cookies that pop-up through normal surfing lately. Although when I first started check I had so many spyware that it wasn't funny. I have to be careful because one site I accessed accidently have me five spyware in one visit. ><

I highly doubt it, considering many members have those programs also.

I also updated my Ad-award and did a scan, to find 18 new spyware. Not much, but considering the fact that I did another scan fifteen minutes earlier...

Using an Un-Updated Anti-Spyware like that showed just how fast new pieces of internet crap come out...

Well, I had tons upon tons on my computer until recently. Something was even keeping me from using the common search engines. Luckily, Soujiro helped me out and now I can use them again.
