Do you have a character made yet? Or is your character rosewarrior?

Charactor is JadeRose (I have an obsession with roses :O).

I spent a few hours leveling up to 8 so I could become a magician, and that I could put skill points in things.

Thanks to some great info from Pixa though, I've realized that I've wasted most of my skill points, and I have at least 10 skill points in everything (except intelligance which I have 20). -__- Should I just restart? I've having a lot of difficulty with the monsters over by the magician place, and all I have are warrior weapons. :P

Should I just make a new charactor? o_O

All right, I've recreated the charactor, and I'm level 6 with intelligance in the 30s, all the other stats are their rolled default. Once I become a magician, what should I put my one magic point in? And should I go back to the first island to train? And is it normal to be only hitting 3 at the max? o_O

Thanks for the help! :D

Hitting 3 max is good, your first point should go into energy bolt.

I'll edit in a skill tree later.

I can help! *flies in*
Actually, I'm just going to credit from the Sleepywood forums, because they have it spot on. So credit to them... I'd choose one of two routes.

Path #1 - Uses slightly more potions to level than build #2, but levels the
fastest.

8 - Energy Bolt 1
9 - MP Recovery 3
10 - MP Recovery 5, MP Increase 1
11 - MP Increase 4
12 - MP Increase 7
13 - MP Increase 10 (Maxed)
14 - Magic Claw 3
15 - Magic Claw 6
16 - Magic Claw 9
17 - Magic Claw 10, save 2 skill points
18 - Save 3 skill points
19 - Save 3 skill points
20 - Magic Claw 20 (Maxed), MP Recovery 6
21 - MP Recovery 9
22 - MP Recovery 12
23 - MP Recovery 15
24 - MP Recovery 16 (Maxed), Magic Guard 2
25 - Magic Guard 5
26 - Magic Guard 8
27 - Magic Guard 11
28 - Magic Guard 14
29 - Magic Guard 17
30 - Magic Guard 20 (Maxed)

Path #2 - Balance of power and potion use.

8 - Energy Bolt 1
9 - MP Recovery 3
10 - MP Recovery 5, MP Increase 1
11 - MP Increase 4
12 - MP Increase 7
13 - MP Increase 10 (Maxed)
14 - Magic Claw 3
15 - Magic Claw 6
16 - Magic Claw 9
17 - Magic Claw 10, MP Recovery 7
18 - MP Recovery 10
19 - MP Recovery 13
20 - MP Recovery 16 (Maxed)
21 - Save 3 Skill Points
22 - Save 3 Skill Points
23 - Magic Claw 19
24 - Magic Claw 20 (Maxed), Magic Guard 2
25 - Magic Guard 5
26 - Magic Guard 8
27 - Magic Guard 11
28 - Magic Guard 14
29 - Magic Guard 17
30 - Magic Guard 20 (Maxed)

I followed another path and went:

8- Energy Bolt
9 - Improve Recovery 3
10 - Improve Recovery 2, Max MP 1
11 - Max MP 3
12 - Max MP 3
13 - Max MP 3 (Maxed)
14 - Increase 3
15 - Increase 3
16 - Increase 3
17 - Increase 2 (Maxed), Claw 1
18 - Claw 3
19 - Claw 3
20 - Claw 3
21 - Save SP
22 - Save SP
23 - Claw 9
24 - Claw 1 (Maxed), Guard 2
25 - Guard 3
26 - Guard 3
27 - Guard 3
28 - Guard 3
29 - Guard 3
30 - Guard 3 (Maxed)

It's mainly if you want to be conservative with your mesos. I'd suggest Path #2 from Pixal's quote, however.

All right, I'm a mage again. :P I'll follow path two.

Is my casting bar thing (the blue one) going to regenerate so slowly all the time? And where I should I train now? Around Ellemaria, or should I go back and kill snails? :D

Your mp will probably be slowly regenerating a lot, but that's what potions are for. or you can go sit on benches to regenerate faster. at the lower levels, go to henesys and train in the training area to the left. you can just keep moving up as you level. and there's a bench one screen to the right for easy healing. go kill snails

Hey. I just tried to go to the site but it appears to be down. I also asked Liv and Alex to check and they can't get onto the page either.

So, just a quick heads-up.

Do NOT follow mage guides. Almost all of those available online are very, very bad. Kalani's is a much better route to take, but still, there is a more efficient way to do things. Make sure you max Improving Max MP Increase immediately! It has a huge impact over time. I'm level 59, and if I had not maxed it right away, I would have a good amount less MP.

After maxing Max MP Increase, you should then focus on getting Magic Claw, but at the same time on having a MP recovery rate that is tolerable. You can alternate between raising Magic Claw and MP Recovery, but if you can afford the blue potions, max Magic Claw first. This is because Magic Claw is the most powerful 1st job skill available to mages, and it is what allows mages to train the most quickly until level 30 or so.

your path doesn't save sp, so you waste time and money with a claw that does less damage for more mp. at the saving levels, if you didn't save, there'd be little effect anyway

No, every level that you increase Magic Claw, it does more damage. When the MP doubles, it still does more damage, but some people would rather be weaker for a few levels than just spend a little bit on potions. You can level very fast through the 20's if you have as many points as possible in Magic Claw and use potions while training.
