Man, so now I'm really stressed. As a recap for those of you who don't know, my school burned down in July and there was a meeting earlier this month to decide what to do about it and other schools in the area. It was decided then that my school would be rebuilt and no schools would be closed, but now the state board is demanding that some schools be closed. The official meeting is tonight, and they will be decided the fate of my school and others in the area (possibly including my future school) and, hopefully, deciding what to do with the other students from my old school next year, which is what I really want to know.

So, I'm...verry nervous. :(

Ugh, we're having a similar situation here (though nothing... burned down). Our high school and junior high is way too crowded (let's just say that the high school was meant for 400 students, and now has over 3,000). They put a new high school on the ballot, but voters proposed not to build a new one because it would cost them more of their precious money (and the average income here is higher than it is in most places, so poorness is not the reason why). Let's see how precious your money is when you aren't making anymore and your kid can't afford to take care of your fancy medical equipment when you're elderly because they didn't have a good enough education to actually be successful due to around 35 kids in a class.

All rants aside, I hope your case turns out for the best! :)

A similar situation happened here, too, though everyone is staying in the district. We're going to close at least one of our older elementary schools and possibly build a replacement one (we've already got a new one). It's also been decided long ago that the junior high right next to the high school will be absorbed by the latter. Still, it'll be a difficult process.

I hope everything goes well! I read in your last topic the kind of situation you'd be in if it was closed, so best of luck to you and your school. :)

35 kids in a class isn't that bad. I mean, it is a lot, but it could be handled. My area's pretty well known for having really good education, and through middle school, unless I'm being dillusional, most of my classes had 30+ kids...

Our area is also known for incredible education.

Which is declining, as far as I know, due to the thousands of people who decide to spontaneously move here every year.

School board stuff is crazy. I really hope that it went your way, though. It's tough to change schools and have everything be different. *hugs*

My area has really good schools, too, but the overcrowding isn't helping much. You can learn a lot in a class with even hundreds of people, but everyone starts out with a handicap.

I'm hoping that they'll open another school in my area soon, since pretty much all of the public high schools are over capacity.
