Ruins Rampage rage

I've gotten about halfway through this game, and I'm stuck on the first deathtrap room! I've gotten 400 points max so far, and to get all the way to the deathtrap room and waste all my lives just trying to get across is making me want to pull my hair out. Can somebody plz post a walkthrough, even if only for that room?

Have you managed to get through it? I made a map on paper but I could make a pic and post it somewhere to show the safe path through. I'm on neopets daily, so look for MonicaE there too.

There are lots of things you can click.

Right eyes of main characters - makes some weird sound
Two scarabs - They fall off
Scarabug - Moves his arms

I'll post the screenie and the directions. Doesn't change the game any, but it's kinda cute...

Screenie first...



Now, to get it to do that.

1) Click the scarab under the Zafara
2) Click the scarab hanging on the ledge where the Blumaroo is sitting
3) Click on the scarab on top of the instructions box
4) Click the Blumaroo's eye
5) Click the Zafara's eye

The guard will morph into him.

CAUTION: To get him to appear all of the above need to be done fairly quickly.

I've played a LOT of games over the years, but how to play this game is a mystery to me. It's confusing and frustrating. I can't seem get anywhere beyond the rooms linked to the first room. There's traps that I can't cross. The only instructions mention using the arrow keys to move, and that's it. What am I missing to get beyond the first step? Are there any guides out there?
