Just a little while ago (probably less than half an hour) I got a message from my Virus Scan that said it found 2 viruses and cleared them. I then ran a scan through my computer, but I closed it down early because it was slowing down the whole computer and I decided I'd do it later. I had AIM open, and it just went down my buddy list and sent everyone that was online a message that said "How do I look?" and a link to a "picture", and I closed all the windows down the second it happened. Does anyone know what might've caused my computer to get all of these viruses all of a sudden? I'd like to get rid of it as soon as possible before it ruins my computer. Thanks

download the latest McFee standalone virus scanner from that page - it will clean the virus from your machine. I use it almost daily as I clean Virus from PC's

I already have the latest version of McAffe VirusScan on my computer. Every time I log on, I get a warning that says "Trojan Found and Cleaned". It says a file was infected by the FURootkit trojan (which I have no clue what that means). Then right after I click out of that warning, ANOTHER one comes up that says a file was infected by the "ProcKill-CV" trojan. My dad has run a scan 3 or 4 times now, and every time it says it found no infected files, but now everytime someone logs on to their name this comes up. I thought maybe it was just on mine, but I tried going on my mom's name and it came up on hers, too, saying it was on one of HER files. My dad thinks that it's coming from Neopets, but I'm not sure.
All I usually go on is:
-Neopets
-PPT
-Xanga
-AOL Instant Messenger
-Photoshop/Paint

I do remember clicking on an ad by accident the other day and that it took a long time for it to close. The computer keeps telling me the trojan is cleared, but apparently it isn't if it keeps popping up every time I log on.

Please do this, the trojan may not be fully removed.
Download 'Hijack This!'. http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe
Save it in a convenient permanent folder such as C:\HJT\, double click HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

I'll have to talk to my dad about it, he doesn't want me to download anything without his permission. Thanks for your help, though!

Freddy, are you talking about the Stinger stand-alone from the McAfee site? That is a really nice add-on, I always keep that one updated and run it after a regular av scan.

labbiedor, tell your dad that HijackThis isn't what it sounds like (they should have called it something else) ... it's a very good tool that just scans and shows you a log of what's on your computer. If you know exactly what to remove, it will help get rid of traces of trojans, etc. But it (HijackThis) won't remove anything unless you tell it to. It also takes very little space on your computer if that's an issue.

One other thing ... when you run your av scan are you locking down or disconnecting from the internet and disabling System Restore? If you don't disable the Restore, the virus/trojan ... whatever, will still be sitting in the computer. Once you've run a scan, and everything's clean, then re-enable System Restore with a new restore point. I always disconnect from the internet too, just my quirk.
