I celebrate the winter solstice and the new year, but my family celebrates Xmas, so I'll get my presents on the 25th.

I celebrate Chanukah, but even though my family's reform, we do it the proper way - no presents or anything. It's not a huge deal.

Despite not celebrating Christmas, I really do love this time of year, though - there's the chilly air, the happy music, the pretty lights, the easily-annoyed people who jump down your throat if you dare to insult them with "Happy holidays!"...

I guess I sort of do celebrate Christmas - take-out food and movie night! Or sometimes, I'll manage to drag my Jewish friends along to an amusement park (this also works on Easter) - it's great, because there's no one there.

Your sure that's a church and not a Walmart? o_O

Christmas is a holy day of obligation if you're a Christian, no church should not have services. o_O

holy day of obligation? maybe that church realized that xmas has no biblical basis and decided to stop the charade. quite progressive.

Just because Christmas has no "biblical basis" doesn't mean they can't celebrate it.

Thinking, maybe that particular Church can't do services due to a number of reasons which have nothing to do with their beliefs. The building which the Church uses for it's services may be going under restoration work. Just because they aren't holding services doesn't mean they aren't celebrating it. Just not to the full extent.

I celebrate Christmas. I'm also spending Hanukkah with some Jewish friends this year.

Oh, and Festivus. See you at the feats of strength!

If you could call it celebrating then Christmas and New Years. My family doesn't really celebrate the religious Christmas but rather we use it as a opportunity to spend plenty of time together.

Interesting article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-p ... 539180.stm Rebeling Santas raid convienence stores, grafitti on walls, urinate on cars and generally cause havoc to protest against the Commercialisation of Christmas.

I celebrate present-giving, with a hint of family-togetherness and joy. :)

I don't think that commercialised Christmas should be called something else - everyone knows about the origins of the religious Christmas. Christmas, like Easter, has evolved and become something for everyone. It's good to know how the holiday came about and why it's called that, and good that it's something for everyone rather than having seperate things for seperate (non)religious groups. Better to have everyone together celebrating different things on the same day than people having to be seperate and celebrate things seperately.

Great point! I totally agree!
I celebrate Christmas the non religiouse way and I'm very proud of it.

You don't have your pole up yet? But it's nearly time for the airing of grievances! ;)

It's a Festivus for the rest of us!

Actually, celebrating, what is in the eyes of the Church, Christ's Birthday, it generally is necessary. I believe so, anyway.
