Either way, i still say there had to be some sort of genetic testing going on in the early 1900's. Perhaps it had something to do with the World wars at that time?
According to what I've read, they didn't actually start the genetic testing on Big Boss until 1972. While they may have done something before that, it wasn't recorded in what all I read.
The thing to remember when talking about Metal Gear, is that Metal Gear Solid 2 takes place in late 2007-2009. Not 2001, like the year it came out.
