Yes, because putting a grooming product on a dog is so incredibly like causing it physical harm.

I somehow doubt that you would enjoy being held down and having something put on your body, not knowing what it was.

...So many responses to that, not going to say them, however...

And as I've said, over and over and over and over, you have no idea how the dog feels. YOUR dog didn't enjoy it. That doesn't mean no dog will enjoy it.

My cat loves being groomed with the proper comb. She probably wouldn't notice if it was covered in dye. *shrugs*

I think the simple answer is some pets like being groomed, others don't. Same as with dogs and cats as with horses, some really really REALLY like it, some just loathe it. And it depends more on who your pet is rather then who you are.
Unfortunately man has created unsustainable coats in many breeds of dogs and cats that without proper grooming would become a mess. Because of this there is a need for grooming, and thusly groomers (or at least people who know what they're doing so they don't make the pet look like an idiot). A lot depends as well on how the animal was treated when young, often if grooming is introduced young an animal is far more willing to accept it rather then if it was started at an older age.
Snipping scissors, spray bottles, bathes, they can all be very scary things if they're not introduced to animals nicely. They make funny sounds, and do strange things to animals, and if done by a stranger they can be doubly as scary because Mom'n Pop and little Mary Sue aren't there to snuggle the animal into reassurance.
Thusly, neither side in this is really wrong or right in whether animals should be groomed, in a way it's strictly animal dependant. And should you own an animal that requires needs like this, it would be neglect if you allowed the animal to go without proper trimming and coat care because it can be quite detrimental to the animals health.
So. In closing. Some animals do well without being taken to a groomers to be clipped trimmed and pampered, others are quite happily able to survive without it. And thats all i've got.

Aww, so cute!

I have a westie, and we've always joked about dying her bright red or something. I'm pretty sure my dad would have a minor heart attack if we ever did, though. ;)

Siggy under construction.

Aww, That puppy looks so cute <3

Since it was for a good reason I'm not really against the dog being dyed. As it's been said, both sides of the arguments have good points but it all comes down to personal preference. :)

I wouldn't dye my puppy but that's because I love her colour! She's a fawn doberman pinscher, so pretty :D

I personally wouldn't dye my dog. xD Puff is cute just the way he is.

However, some dogs like being primmed and groomed, and they'd like it. :P
