An article posted about what to expect (Entertainment wise) in 2006.

Quote:
A spring blockbuster directed by Spike Lee. Pop music’s biggest comeback of the year from a group that hasn’t released anything in 10 years.

A hit TV show about an 18-year-old mayor.

The very real possibility that Paris Hilton and Kevin Federline could be gold-selling artists in 12 months.

I’m counting on you people working with me to ensure that last prediction doesn’t happen. Think it’s not possible? I’m convinced that if “Laffy Taffy” can become a hit, practically anything is possible.

Here are some predictions on what you’ll be reading about in pop culture by 2007.

Spotting September’s buzz band is a little tough to do right now, but some to look for on the immediate horizon are the Arctic Monkeys (a British band whose stateside debut, “Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not,” drops later this month), Editors (whose Interpol-esque single, “Munich,” is a bouncy number not to be confused with Steven Spielberg’s movie) and Jenny Lewis going it alone - sort of. She teams up with the Watson Twins for an album that includes a fine cover of the Traveling Wilburys’ “Handle with Care” featuring Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes and Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie.

For the mainstream stuff, there are some breakout acts wielding the hot iron and ready to bombard with new material later this year - e.g. Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, the Game, and, of course, Kanye, whose “Graduation” is expected to be ready later this year.

But this year mostly is going to be one of people we haven’t heard from in a while - say, since 2002 (Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, and, even though the group’s music broke big much later than that, Maroon5, whose debut studio album landed then) and 2003 (OutKast, Radiohead, Evanescence, Beyonce and Jet). Expect the biggest returns on Timberlake, OutKast and Maroon5, and hard, loud thuds for Aguilera, Evanescence and Jet.

Pretty interesting, a lot of returning bands/artists.

An eighteen year old guy in the area ran for mayor around a year ago, I wonder if that's him... (no idea if he won or not)

I believe he did win. There was a spoof about it on SNL and it was after the fact he was elected. And Tina Fey did her Weekend Report on it too.

I don't know if that would be the guy, then... if he did win, he only mayors over a tiny town in Nowheresville.

I'm thinking Spice Girls.

Spice Girls last released a song in the late nineties so that would be between 5 and 10 years ^^

Could it be INXS? I know they're already back but maybe they meant their official new single will be released?

Although, I'm not sure if you can classify INXS as pop.

Take That's last single was released in 1996 which will be 10 years ago and they are touring, its probably them.

But I heard they were touring with Robbie Williams. So it'll be Take That but without Robbie Williams?

How hot; they mentioned Evanescence. ^_^ Their album is due for release around March to May, I believe.

The guy who was elected was from a town of 9,000 in Michigan...
