I just installed IE7 and it looks very different.
I think it'll take some getting used to :)

User interface, mostly. Rendering is slightly better.

Is it standards compliant?

Supposedly it is.

I've been using it for less than a day, and its crashed on me twice already :)

Its taking a bit of getting used to, especially when looking for the home, back/forward and refresh buttons.

Home is now next to the tabs.
Back/Forward are in the top left.
Refresh is on the left of the address bar.
Yahoo Seach has been relegated to the top right corner out of the way.

The Phishing filter is a nice feature though. It automatically blocks known phishing websites to prevent fraud.

Well if that doesn't look like a ripoff of Mozilla Firefox when you first install it...

It's probably crashing so much because it's only beta, but it would be kind of funny if it was worse at that than IE 6.

As long as it's standards-compliant, I'm happy. I run a website for work, and it's very low-traffic, but it looks awful in IE because I use CSS commands that apparently IE6 doesn't recognize.

I'm keeping my Mozilla, thank you very much.

I've had a lot of people using IE 6 tell me the CSS on my website isn't working, and it's normal CSS code (link colour, scroll bar, ect.)

i'd stay away from anything that was 'beta' by microsoft...it'll most likely be vulnerable to many exploits and viruses etc..best to wait til an official release..lol and even then you should be careful :S

Wow, that's sad. It looks almost exactly like what Firefox looks like when you first install it, except for a few changes (mainly the buttons).

Looks like Microsoft can't get creative enough to create their own skins, so they use other people's. For example, a new feature on Vista is called SideBar. It's basically like the Dashboard for Mac OS X Tiger, but it's a sidebar. And instead of Widgets, it's Gadgets.

Microsoft have said IE7 is fully complient with CSS and CSS2, as well as a number of graphics types, such as .png

Or, alternatively, firefox default UI:

IE 7 seems to look better (not sure what they did to the menus, but their disappearance is rather nice for the vertical size of the non-webpage area).

Although there are lots of themes for Firefox that make it look much better. I'm using the 'iFox' theme, and it's fantastic. It's much better than the IE7 Beta one.

I've tried both Firefox 1.5 and this new version of IE, and Firefox is much better than IE7. IE7 has crashed on me quite a few times, whereas FF didn't crash on my at all when I visited the same web pages on it that made IE7 crash. In fact, FF has never crashed on me at all since I've had it.

Anyway, I suppose only time will tell which one of these two will be the better, but comparing Firefox to this version of IE, Firefox wins

Actually I.E 7 is very similar to Mozilla Firefox, but depends what coding you use. In your condition, i'd say there's some en-coding that Mozilla put in there, or the users just haven't adjusted their settings. But Don't worry DM, Hugs For Hawk Nelson still works on my I.E. :)

But i still love my I.E, ive been using it since i was 3 xD (1995). I guess im just an I.E junkie. Please don't boo me, i still like FF. =)

Heeey i really like that option. Too cool. I'm hanging for the new release of IE :) It's great to have competition between companies so we, the customers, get better products yay!

Hold onto your seats people... the SL is back.
