Facts
Green Day
- "American Idiot" (The first Green Day album to reach #1 on Billboard) is treated as a "punk rock opera". The main character, "Jesus of Suburbia" becomes addicted to drugs, meets a girl known as "Whatsername" and a risk-taker named "St. Jimmy". Over the course of the album, "Jesus of Suburbia" grows through his experiences and learns a lot about himself. In the song "Homecoming", his friend "St. Jimmy" commits suicide. The only song on the album which does not fit into the soap opera theme is "Wake Me Up When September Ends" which is about Billy Joel's deceased father.
- The band is planning to release a movie (Mimicking moves by Pink Floyd and The Beatles) entitled "American Idiot: The Motion Picture". The band members themselves may or may not be in the picture.
- Their singles include "Holiday", "Wake Me Up When September Ends", and "Jesus of Surburbia".
