Right, I've had braces for 6 months now and today, I noticed that I can feel one of my wisdom teeth coming through. I'm worried that it will mess up my dental treatment.

Anyone else has this problem?

Wow, you got your wisdom teeth growing now? My wisdom tooth just grew now, and I'm quite a bit younger than you I think. Weird.

I've had my wisdom teeth coming through (I'm 17 btw), which started when I had braces, but it didn't mess anything up. Now my teeth are nice and straight.

I have braces too (my 2nd time with them on), and I think if you're worried you should just ask your orthodontist next time you see him. I don't think it should do anything to your braces, except I guess it could push your teeth forward after they start to grow in more. One of the reasons I had to get braces for the second time is because my 12-year-molars grew in and pushed everything to the front again, so I guess the same thing could happen with you. I'd still talk to your orthodontist about it, though.

Talk to your orthodontist, but I don't think there will be a problem. My braces weren't messed up because of wisdom teeth.

It depends x_x; Some people's wisdom teeth grow without problems, other people have had to have braces twice because their wisdom teeth mucked their perfectly-arranged teeth completely.

Yep. My wisdom teeth started moving again when I was at university. I probably should (at 25!) get braces again, but I really don't want to. However, 3 out of 4 of my wisdom teeth are pointed towards the front of my face, so when they move, they definitely move the rest of my teeth about. I'd check with your orthodontist -- they should have x-rays of them, which will tell them whether or not it'll be a problem. (Mostly, anyway, unless your orthodontist is an idiot like my old one was.)

My dentist told me that if my wisdom teeth had come in, I'd have to go through braces again. I didn't want to, so I had them taken out. The recovery didn't take long. I was eating Thanksgiving dinner a week after.

I haven't had braces myself, but I'm sure your dentist and orthodontist would've seen your wisdom teeth in any x-rays they took before they put your braces on (since wisdom teeth hang around in your gums for years before they start emerging). So they probably would've planned around them a little bit, at least :)
