I hope it's not something like view Nightsteed's Neopedia entry while owning a Halloween Uni. But some to think about it, in the early part of the story he was in his "dark" form at night so is that perhaps a factor.

I went out on a limb and checked all the Lost Desert Plot chapters that Nightsteed was in (along with all the ones he wasn't), the puzzle solution, and the prize shop, and nothing there.
