Neopets is Evil!! Oh noes!!

#1 Post by vivian58 »

I hope this is not an inappropriate place to post this, but my friend just sent me a link to the most HILARIOUS page ever, where the question "Is it just a fantasy game or is it introduction to the occult? " is answered.

http://www.crossroad.to/Q&A/Toys-Games/neopets.htm

The person who wrote this tried to pretend s/he did a lot of research, but it's obvious that s/he probably just did a google search on "Neopets" and various "occult" keywords such as "Scooby-Doo" to get the materials s/he wanted.

Edit: Just a note... I didn't create this thread as an open invitation to mock Christians or whatever. I just thought it was an amusing "warning" from someone who clearly does not know about what Neopets is really about. Please don't start hating/etc.

i hate uptight people like that..1 out of a billion people that play neopes would get into witchcraft from it, kids dont think of the site when they play as a witch craft game, this is paethetic. i can't stand when a site thats suppose to be pure fun gets slammed by people crossing it with religion, when the site isnt about "witchcraft" in the first place.

Any people from any said religion gives a bad name to their religion like that, unless s/he's religion is like that, which is what Christianity ISNT about.

Neopets is (was :() a "fantasy wielding game" where "witches lived in Woods, Faeries lived in Clouds and odd monkey-men asked you to put your hand in a box" - but that doesn't promote witchcraft or any sort of religion who believes in magick. One could easily argue that Prayer is a form of magic, but we all know that s/he would think thats blasphemy and call us a witch eh ;) lol.

I kinda feel bad for the kids of these parents. They can't play neo, read Harry Potter or even watch Scooby Doo. :(

Sometimes I think parents go way too far to shelter their children from things they feel are occult or witchy or anything. IT'S A GAME, PEOPLE. You can't become a witch just by playing Neopets, or reading Harry Potter, or watching Scooby Doo. I think those kind of people give a bad name to Christians everywhere.

Oh, Lord. I don't even want to see it.
*looks at first Q&A* I knew it. <_<

I'm Christian, I play Neo...never really watched Scooby-Doo, and never got into Harry Potter.

I have let my son play it and I have not really looked into it.

...

Why the heck hasn't that mother checked the site out for her ruddy self if she's so concerned about it? Isn't that part of the job description?

Christians have different opinions than some people, and they just happen to sound ridiculous to some. Some of them DO have wrong opinions, just like any athiest..

I will say however, Neopets did not create the Wicca guilds, and they maybe havent deleted them because they cannot monitor thousands of guilds consistently. But tell me, whats wrong with Harrises, Babaas and Miamouses? I mean, they're fluffy, they're squishy.. what'd they do wrong?

a classic example of seeing what you want to see. harrises and miamice are faerie pets, and faeries are magical (which equals EEEVIL). babaas are sheep, and sheep are often found in christian mythology. in the mind of the website's author, that's clearly the devil using christian symbols to trick unsuspecting children.

i'm still trying to figure out why chronicles of narnia, filled with magic, was considered a christian movie when harry potter and neopets are so demonized. the sacrificial savior character is not unique to christianity. but that's another rant altogether.

i wonder why "species" is in bold? what's so bad about the word "species"? and laser beams? aliens i can sort of understand.
