Sure, everyone should know their first amendment rights, but if I had the choice between reading the constitution and watching The Simpsons, it's pretty obvious which I'd pick.

The point is not picking which is more entertaining. I'm not even asking anyone to know the Constitution front to back. But you should know at least 5 of your basic rights.

Don't be afraid to see the truth, even if no one wants you to. Be yourself and not a fool. Don't ever be afraid to speak your mind and listen to criticism. Dissent is keeps our country progressive and willingness to challenge yourself is what keeps yourself ever evolving.

that's what lawyers are for, which seem to be an expendable commodity these days :)

Oh, random simpsons trivia, how we love thee.

In the episode with The Itchy and Scratchy Movie, Lisa comes in and says something about the celebrities who did cameos, who weren't credited, but you could tell it was them- 'Dustin Hoffman, Michael Jackson'. This is a reference to Simpsons episodes with the voices of Dustin Hoffman and Michael Jackson that go uncredited.

They were credited as fake names, Michael Jackson as "John Jay Smith" and Dustin Hoffman as "Sam Etic." (Like Semitic) XD

And yeah, it is easier to remember cartoon characters' names than to memorize the First Amendment in it's entirety.

When Mary had a little lamb, the dotor was suprised, but when Old MacDonald had a FARM, the doctor nearly had a heart attack.

A guy on a comedy show here said something along the lines of: "When they start showing the US Constitution for 4 hours a night, then we'll see...".

Only it was a lot more funny the way he said it :( It was a good point though!

TV taught me many things when I was younger, but something makes me feel that television programming has gone downhill since then. When I was eight, I watched alot of Discovery Channel, History Channel, and PBS. A decade later--and without such cable programming--I have nothing positive to really say about TV.

America (and no doubt other countries) is now obsessed with reality shows and we are swamped with it. It's very mindless entertainment that I'm thoroughly sick of.

Since I only get channels 2 through 29, I can honestly say that the only television I watch, that interests me mildly, is Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? (for the interesting facts to be learned) and PBS. Public broadcasting forever!
