I hate my computer.

Well not so much, it is actaully quite good, its horrily over efficeint in some places, my processing doesnt go past a gig but there isn't a game that wont work at full speed. Odd?

But neverthe less, I think, being like 5 years old now, it deserves a bit of a clean out. A serious clean out.

I have three operating systems, which sporadically ALL LOAD at once. (Me, and 2 XP's). I have 150 gigs of space, something like 8 of it is free. I've re-installed XP so many times I dont know HOW many profiles i've got, so any music i've burnt onto my computer is just everywhere. WMP takes about 30 seconds to load the next song.

Whilst most of the problems from these problems can be fixed easily, thats not what i'm asking for your advice on.

I'm planning on wiping everything. Music, Pictures, Games, Operating Systems ect. Nothing shall be spared. But I dont want to loose everything, so whilst going through and salvaging as much music as possible, as well as video game data and photos, can anyone think of anything else that i'd desperately need to salvage?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Browser bookmarks, programs, password and usernames saved in browsers (make a text document)..

Also, I dislike if I re-download a program, and I had settings that make it work a particular way, but I can't remember how. So take screenshots of program preferences/settings if you want to.

I'll think of more later.

Edit, if you use an FTP client, do remember to actually save all details.

how are you backing them all up? onto DVDs? as you could use one of the many spare HDDs you have lying around other than on disk.

Yeah, using a spare HDD would be good. I know in an issue of Popular Science it taught you how to make an external hard drive instead of buying one, because it's roughly $100-200 cheaper. (You basically need to get an internal hard drive and an HDD enclosure kit, and voila)
