Truth - the real state of things; fact; a true or accepted statement or proposition

Truthiness - the quality of stating concepts or facts one wishes or believes to be true, rather than concepts or facts known to be true

Factoid - an invented fact believed to be true because of its appearance in print

This is a tricky one. I like truth since I'm a scientist. I like truthiness since Colbert is the main man. I like factoid since the commonly known definition of factoid is a factoid.

I'm voting 'All of the above' since I love them all

I'm a biologist by education, so i gotta go for truth.

But truthiness is much easier, and more fun.

Factoids are good because in a very 1984 style way if you lie for long enough it might become truth (i.e, Lemmings running off cliffs).

I'm going to go vanilla and say "truth".

To me, factoid sounds ugly (it's just an ugly word) and truthiness sounds redundant and has an unnecessary lengthiness to it (and also sounds ugly). I'll take the short terms rather than the fancier, awkward-sounding terms any day.

*becomes a hypocrite for using lengthiness but not truthiness*

Oh damn...

Sometimes the hardest thing to believe is the "truth". :P
That was out of place, seeing as I'm listening to an anime theme song. x)

As much as I love "truthiness", I can't use it in a thesis or even a regular ole research paper. Well... unless I'm doing something on modern linguistics in the media.

Don't be afraid to see the truth, even if no one wants you to. Be yourself and not a fool. Don't ever be afraid to speak your mind and listen to criticism. Dissent is keeps our country progressive and willingness to challenge yourself is what keeps yourself ever evolving.
