According to http://www.pinkpt.com/neodex/index.php/Adam_Powell and WIKIPEDIA, apparantly Adam Powell has an IQ of 175. That's better than Einstein and nobel prize winners who have IQs of 155 - 164.

Apparantly Adam was also a former member of MENSA...

Considering that genuis IQ begins at 140... does anyone believe this? o_O

Hold onto your seats people... the SL is back.

Haha. Nope. It's my guess that it's just an online IQ test - those results have a huge variety in them. I've got anywhere between 110 and 150 on IQ tests.

[Kym, remove the 1337 filter ;_;]

Gone, forever.

Well, it took a stroke of genius to turn a virtual petsite into a multi-million dollar company. :roflol:

I doubt it's 175 by the normal scale. I mean, he's smart, no doubt, but that's almost scary smart. That's smarter than Marilyn Vos Savant and Stephen Hawking put together smart! But then again, maybe I'm wrong. If he was really that smart, don't you think he'd be doing something a little more worthwhile than a virtual pets site? He'd be with those guys that are trying to cure cancer and stuff.

I love that anecdote... everyone always says that smart people should be curing cancer? I'm sure there are alot of other things just as worthy.

Mr. Powell added that himself (specific edit where it was added). I actually have no idea whether or not the statement is actually true, but with no other sources, I don't see any harm in leaving it in.

Well, not quite. Ms. Vos Savant's IQ is somewhere above 200, so they say. No idea what Mr. Hawking's might be. Really, though, the tests a horrifically inaccurate above 180 or so. (Not that they mean much of anything in the first place since they're so often heavily culturally biased.) A lot of real IQ tests can't measure anything higher than 150. IQs above that are just as often measured by behavior and demonstrated skills as by controlled testing.

And for the record, above 120 (might be 115) is considered gifted, and 150 and above is genius. And a lot of people with IQs over 170 can't function at an appropriate level because of social and interpersonal-relation difficulties. Others learn at an early age to scale abilities down to not stand out as much, and never quite regain a practical use of their native intelligence.

Plenty of extremely smart people are doing things other than curing cancer. If nothing else, plenty of extremely smart people aren't good at biology, or medicine, or just don't enjoy those subjects.

All rambling and ranting aside, it's possible. Not terribly likely, simply because the percentage of people that actually have IQs that high is infinitesimally small, but it's still possible.

so the verdict is that we should just say that anyone with an IQ above 0 is smart because plenty of people with IQ's with three digits have done great things and some have not...

boy, can't we just say that Adam was smart enough to start a virtual pet site and leave it at that..no point in bickering and accusing.. :D

(oh no, my posts are finally starting to get broken up) :D

IQs aren't an accurate way of judging peoples intelligence anyways. So i'm not about to put a lot of stock into this. They're biased and innaccurate, so I could care less how high anyones IQ is. True smarts are shown by what you do with your life, not by how you score on some test.
