The silent hill full trailer Is now up. (Beware creepy mannequin dudes)
Anyone else just shy of wetting themselves in exitement :D

Woo! "Pyramid head"

Note; Due to the... Nature of this film there is ofcourse some elements of extreme freight, and while nothing in the trailer screams "NOT PG13!" To me, that doesn't mean it wont to anyone else, so beware.

Yep, this movie is going to be pure ownage. :D The games are great, and I'm expecting this to be just as strange/creepy/freaky. As it it's going to rely more on atmosphere and just things that plain creepy rather than pure bloodshed and cliche slasher move elements. Can't wait.

Some of this movie was shot in downtown Brantford,Ontario(where I was born and lived til I was in my 20's) the street it was shot on is Colborne St and they didn't need many props to change it cause it looked almost like it does in the movie due to big box and malls coming to town. Now that is scary!!!!!

It looks alright; but we really shouldn't have high hopes for a video game adaptation.

Eh, true, but the Resident Evil movies did fairly well and they were loosely adaptations of the games (well, never saw the second one, but the first had hardly anything to do with the game). The first Tomb Raider was pretty good too (never saw the second, but I heard it was rubbish). Luckily, fewer people know about Silent Hill so people that aren't gamers may not even know it's a game adaptation (which I think affects how a person ends up thinking about it.)

The games themselves screamed "movie" to me more than they did videogames, and I've been waiting for a Silent Hill movie since before it was even announced (when the seconf game was released_. This seems to be loosely based off on the first and second game (Pyramid Head, Cybil, and the mannequin monsters), though mostly the second it seems. Not sure about the timeline. I'm guessing between the first and second game.

I think it may actually end up being better than the non-game horror movies that are being released currently (including Staying Alive, since technically it's a game-movie.)

I normally don't like scary movies at the theatre because they freak me out so badly and theres no way to get comfortable. But this doesn't look all that scary and it actually looks kind of cool.

I saw the movie earlier today and really... it's not all that scary.
There are parts that do scare you.. but overall.. it's not very scary.

It's a good movie, but not great. It could've been so much scarier, creepier, but it's still not bad heh.

One of the WORST movies I've seen in a long time.

Don't even bother. I'd rather sit through 'Elmo in Grouchland' than see this again.

Just a quick question here.
Has anyone ever described you as "weird" Or "sick"?
Because it seems that the people that have like it (that I have spoken to anyway) are. o_O

Ofcourse not being phased by most oh what was happening (Lets just say that Children scared me before I saw the film) allowed me to see alot of the symbology that was in the background.

IMO, if you haven't played the games (preferably more than one), then don't touch the movie. The story may (though, from critic reviews, it probably will) be above your head (as Roger Ebert has proven) and, ultimately, you won't really enjoy the movie (most are biased as they go in anyway, which ruins the movie before it even starts).

If you've played the game, are a fan, or whatever, then you will probably enjoy the movie, or at least you will find it passable for what it was supposed to be, a game to movie adaptation. It was a bit disapointing on the the "scare" factor, but I suppose it could never have matched the games anyway (though it wasn't that bad).

I have only played Silent Hill 3 and 4 but thats not the point. I am going to see this movie Friday only because it was number one and my friends tell me it is really good, other than that since i wasnt happy with Resident Evil and House of the Dead i wasnt going to trust another video game movie.

The film takes on a whole new aspect when you know what each monster represents ("inner Daemons" and all that)
Particularly Pyramid head and the Nurses.
Scary times.

I refuse to see this movie for two reasons:

1) There is no Toluca County, West Virginia.

2) West Virginia State Police officers do not wear that style of hat (naval dress style). Instead, they wear campaign hats.

When they remake this movie in 20 years and get the places and costumes right, then I'll see it. 'Til then, I'm content to be scared by things like my cell phone bill.
