I've said it before and i'll say it again, if Taylor wins, i'll never watch AI again.

Same here, Talory can't win. He just can't. Point blank. Why can't he? Becuase he'd be a complete failure. The only idols who've had success are Kelly, Clay, Fantasia, and Carrie. Ruben flopped. Big time.

So? That's his whole THING! He doesn't seem to care if he wins or loses! If his fanbase is big and supportive enough to get him through to the very end, odds are he'll just go back to his hick band!

The only success is Kelly and possibly Carrie.

Clay had success, but has disappeared after it and I'm sure that scandal didn't help.

Fantasia...is a success? Since when?

Carrie is doing well, she might actually hit it big within the country scene. But I mean, I wouldn't be suprised if she faded out.

Her voice is sort of rough, and a lot lower than what you hear on most women. But she has PERSONALITY. She's good at what she does, and no matter what song it is, you always get the sense that she's very into it.

So you're saying... he's good at "getting into" songs. Personality is all he has going for him right now. It was the same thing with Kellie. She was a sup-par singer, but because she could play around on camera and get people to like her by being appealing, regardless of what she could do, she raked in the votes. People that are great performers and mediocre singers, for the most part, are better on stage, and not in the studios making CDs.

Amethyst wrote:Taylor is the same way with his performances, and that's why he has a fanbase. I would love nothing more than to see him win, just because I think he deserves it. He doesn't stress about his image or anything (at least on camera), and he just goes out, does what he's going to do, and if America doesn't like it, oh well.

I respect that.

Um... no one but Kellie, Chicken Little, Ace, and Brenna showlingly stressed their image on camera. Heck, there have been bouts of Taylor doing it near the beginning of the show.

Also, there's no possible way for you to know that about his personality unless you were inside of his head. This is about who's the best singer, not who has the best personality. Sure, it plays a part, but it shouldn't be a deciding factor.

Anyway, if he wins and just goes back to his "hick band" (not my label), he basically just wasted the winning spot on the show, one that someone else could have used in a better way.

Carrie's not going anywhere. She's hugely popular in the country genre. You can't walk into a mall here without hearing "Inside Your Heaven" and you can't turn on a respectable country station without hearing "Jesus Take the Wheel".

You can't turn on a station period without hearing the latter mentioned. Our local Christian station has played it so much, I can't even take it anymore.

And now it's playing on B 93.7, the same station that plays Nelly and Eminem. Hah. Go figure.

Actually the only idol that has really been successful is Kelly. The others have what? One hit song that faded away after a few weeks? I don't call that success.

And again, since you obviously ignored what I just said, Carrie's very successful. You probably wouldn't hear her because you probably don't listen to country. Outside of that genre, it would appear like she's a flop as well, but inside of it, she's up with the best.

For my mom I have to go in Clay's defense. He's been on multipule tours in the past three years (about 4 or 5), had a Christmas special.. he'd have another CD out but Clive slimed up the process and made him go back to the studio to make him do covers..

By the way, you dont know if Taylor would be a failure. Thats not really a nice thing to say, regardless of personal opinion.

Kelly: Definitely the biggest success that came out of Idol. Her first cd went double platinum which is ok for a first album. She wasn't too popular at first. In fact, Clay was definitely MORE popular than her or any of the idols at first. However, Breakaway has gone five times platinum in the U.S. and sold over 10 million albums worldwide. She's going on her third tour in the summer. (Fourth if you count the American Idol 1 tour) She probably wouldn't have had as much control over her Breakaway album if she hadn't dumped her contract with 19 Entertainment.

Clay: He disappeared? Maybe if you're not paying attention to him. His first album sold 2.7 million in the U.S. and the Christmas album sold 1.2 million in the U.S. He got WAY more fame than Ruben (Do Ruben's CDs even sell?) and was more popular and famous than Kelly at first. He's kind of gone into hiding for a while because he's working on his next CD. He keeps changing the damn release date! :x And the scandal? I didn't know National Enquirer was a reputable magazine. I've actually seen the pictures. Clay is way skinnier and in better shape than whatever guy they took pictures of in there. Also, he isn't with 19 Entertainment anymore which is why you maybe haven't heard about him much. He dumped the contract because it was too limiting, like I think one of the provisions was he couldn't go on more than one tour. (He has done like 5 - Independent Tour 2004, Solo Tour 2004, Joyful Noise Tour 2004, Jukebox Tour 2005, and Joyful Noise Tour 2005) Also, he has done the American Idol 2 tour in 2003. He is not dead nor is he gone for good. :P If his album is mostly covers like the rumors say...bye bye career!

Carrie: I don't really listen to the radio much anymore but I haven't heard her on it. Then again, I don't usually listen to country. I think her album has currently sold like 2.7 million in the U.S., so she could very well beat Clay in sales. I love her album though, even though I'm not a big fan of country. <3

I've heard Kelly's, Clay's, and Bo's songs on the radio. I think I heard Diana's once and have never heard Justin's (haha), Ruben's, Fantasia's, or Carrie's on the radio.

I want Chris to win, but I wouldn't mind if Taylor won. However, the cd would be CRAP because they'll probably make him do pop/rock ballads and more contemporary stuff - that's just not him. (Have you guys heard Bo's cd? What did they do to him? :()

Sun May 07, 2006 4:56 pm

Actually Fantasia was a bit succesful she won quite a lot of Soul Train Awards and such.

And I actually take that back now. Kelly, Clay, and Carrie are the only succesful Idols.

I really do hope, regardless of what I've said, that either Chris or Katharine win. We all know Elliot is going home next week. And after that it's going to be a deathmatch.

Sun May 07, 2006 5:30 pm

Ugh. I heard some songs off of Bo's album, and I stopped wanting it as much.

Like I said, I would like Taylor to win, but it's probably going to be Katharine. She seems much more versatile. Chris just sounds like he's trying to fit the 'Bo' niche, and I think there are too many screaming rockers out there already for him to really be popular after his initial burst of fame from winning AI.

Sun May 07, 2006 6:11 pm

I actually think Taylor will actually make a pretty good album. o_o Maybe that's just me, but I can totally see an album in greyscale with him wearing a tux on the front looking rather serious. And then it'd be titled "The Silver Fox" or something witty relating to his hair. O_o;

Mon May 08, 2006 11:52 pm

Jesus, Take the Wheel annoys the hell out of me.

Taylor, if he won, would make some old-fashioned-sounding country album (which I would hate).

Elliott would make a soul or R&B album, which I'd probably download.

Katharine would make an adult contemporary album, which I'd buy.

And Chris would make some rock album (please not metal, please not metal), and I'd buy it.

o_o But all their music would probably suck, because AI winners generally have bad music.
