I understand that but I don't know how many notches across on which ceiling cover (there are two ceiling covers... left and right) Does anyone have a screenie of what it looks like when correct?

You want the left half of the cover to stay put (covering all of the left), and the right cover to move right 15 notches.

(Can someone tell me why my quotes are going ugly? )

i tried clickgm, theres no available click there, tried refreshing, exit, reentering.. but nothing seems to work.. helpp im getting kind of frustrated here, really want to go to sleep lol

I jammed my rock in one of the cogs and then took it out and went back to the quarry and it worked first go... its worth a try :)

I went to the Janitor and then down to the basement and clicked on one of the cogs (or gears. whatever you call them) and the rock will jam into it. Then I clocked it again and took it out. Then went back to the quarry and one the first try I could throw the rock

My goarch= number in the archives is now staying at 4b6ed8501094bbb7f0493b11eee5ee54.

Is this what everyone has? I'm trying to figure out if I should look for my spellbook in the same places as other people, or if it's random for each person.

Read the first post. If you don't understand some part of it, please be more specific.

Correction for the first post: I think you must visit the archivist after finding the 3-star constellation (twice). The first time he says to find the constellation and get it over with; the second time he says this:

Quote:
The archivist says, "Wait, I'm sorry, did you say there were only three stars you found in the clue? Well no wonder you can't find that constellation... three stars isn't enough for a constellation!" he scoffs. "You'll have to go find the other half of the constellation, I suppose. Hm, it probably isn't in the same place as the first half. That would be too easy."

And then (I think) the janitor switches his statement:

Quote:
The janitor says, "I saw you almost fall out of the observatory! That reminds me, I've been thinking about closing the ceiling again. Our heating costs have gone way up, now that we have all this extra air to keep warm. We keep our boilers in the basement, y'see. I keep having to go down there and adjust the settings. It's a real pain and MAKES ME ANGRY!" He coughs. "Sorry. Been taking some medication to keep me calm. Anyway, if you want to go down to the basement and take a look, just let me know."

I believe there is a general aim, if you can follow it, to open the ceiling more toward the right, there were screenies a few threads back of the final correct "look" so that you can get the overlay. Otherwise, it is lots of random clicking like Water Works II. :P
