I voted for cats, but I do like both. I had many, many cats when I was growing up, and I just like them much better.

aside from the fact that trying to walk my cat would be interesting, at best

Heh, you should try walking my dog.

And that's what little boxes are for.

I meant that I enjoy getting out and walking my dog (well, as much as she lets me), most cat's wouldn't like that, however (and... well, it would probably get eaten by something along the way if I did). Cat's aren't quite as "interactive" in that fashion, and I don't feel they are as rewarding to train as dogs are (mostly, as in results and the amount of things they can be trained to do).

Cats are too smart to allow themselves to be subjected to the indignities of being trianed :P

I like both but I'm definitely more a dog person. Puppies make my heart melt. :)

Cats. Dogs are too needy for me.

Dogs are a lot more likely to love unconditionally, which is wonderful if that's what you need. But the thing about cats is, when they like you, it feels a lot more like they decided to like you and therefore you're a special person. When my family had a cat, every time the cat came to sit on my lap it felt like she was saying "I picked you because I like you." When our dog comes up to me and demands attention, it feels more like he came to me because he wanted attention from someone rather than me specifically.
But they're both favorites. Cats are just a little more favorite.

Dogs. Because I have two, and I don't know how I'd cope without them. However, I also find cats adorable. There's a new Whiskas ad with a gorgeous cat, but I can't find a clip of it ;-;

Gone, forever.
