My daughter's account was frozen in December when she gave away Christmas presents--no strings attached--on the Help chat. Some nasty girl reported her for scamming. I wrote William at support about it, explained what had happened and gave the argument that giving away presents isn't the same as a "giveaway" contest. I suggested that the girl who reported her had a grudge against my daughter (which she boasted about in later posts on the Help chat). I also hinted at the fact that perhaps the staff member who froze her didn't even check to see if she was actually scamming and just took the reporter's word for it instead. William wrote back and admitted that because of the millions of posts on the chats, the staff can't possibly view each post and, therefore, have to rely on the users for reporting abuse. Her account was returned within a day or two of my email to him. And the girl who reported her was, coincidentally, frozen for false reporting one too many times.
So, if my daughter could get her account back, maybe there is hope for you too. You ought to try writing certain people in the support department about your situation. Explain exactly what happened and state that you think someone falsely reported you or was jealous because of what you had won. And, in your letter, give a good argument as to why you don't think you broke a rule. Point out that "crap" should not be considered an offensive word in light of the fact that there is dung all over the place, user names with the words poo in it, etc. Or, at the very most, you should have been given a warning instead of a freezing.
And, to help your argument, check the chats and see if anyone else is using that word or similar words and then check their username later on to see if they were frozen. If they aren't frozen, then you have a case. State in your letter that apparently the rules aren't being applied consistently and that it is unfair that you were frozen while other people who used the same word aren't frozen. In your letter, list the user names of those people who used the word "crap" or similar wording in their posts and give the exact wording of their posts (when I wrote my letter, I listed about 40 examples of people giving gifts away on the chats and how not one of them was frozen).
Most of all, be sincere and apologetic. Point out that you have put a lot of work into your account and would never jeapordize it by breaking a rule. And definitely add an apology: that you didn't think you did anything wrong, but if you did, you apologize and promise not to do it again.
And stay away from the chats--they are bad news. I have heard of way too many people getting frozen for innocent behavior just because someone didn't like what they said. Too many users think they know the rules--when actually they don't--and that report button on each message makes it way too easy for them to play "God" with someone's account.
Best of luck to you and PM me if you need any help, OK?

im not trying to make enemies with you, but making a board with a title HOLYCRAPHOLYCRAP etc, would likely to get your frozen, im still sorry tho

Of course not. I was as poor as a hobo. The only thing I miss is the half of my shop I forgot to save onto a MS Word document or something.
There's that 40k I got from the Mazzew, but that can be made up if I spend enough time using the library's cable to restock.

POOP!
Anyone that gets offended by poop needs to get their brain checked.
They are not offended by the "dung" all over Neopia... why are they offended by crap like "Crap"?

*snort* LOL
Don't just be mad at the moderators, be mad at the jealous New Member who reported you! If they want to ban crap, they should put it in the word filters. Just recently I saw someone saying "bloody hell" on the neoboards and that got through as well. I didn't report them though; they didn't mean it maliciously.

Well despite the fact you think crap is a relatively tame word, I know I wouldn't like my daughters using it to speak to an adult, in class, in church or while speaking to me for that matter.
So maybe it is not such a great word after all, know what I mean?
Still I think a warning would have been alot better than freezing you.

Unfortunately on Neo I can see why crap would be considered a swear word. Although I wouldn't have frozen you for it, it was a bit of a mistake for you to go and post that.
With all the kids running rampant on Neo, i'm not surprised that crap is considered a swear word. I read something a couple days ago where the younger players made up nearly 50 percent of the population on neo. I'm quite sure that my parents wouldn't have wanted me exposed to that kind of language when I was under 13, heck, even over 13 my dad gives me a look if I say crap. So I use more inventive words, like holy cactus.... *shrugs*.
But anyways... I don't use language like that at my camp, and I wouldn't use it on the neoboards. You've been on for long enough that you should have realised that would be a mistake.
But I am sorry for your loss. I liked your shop, it was cute, and I wish you luck with getting your account back.

the freezing is harsh. as for the word "crap" personally, i don't relate it to swearing. however, despite Skullsplitter's hard-lined message (as usual, lol) , it is true. i hope that after (if) you get your account back, you would/should avoid posting on neoboards.
to go a bit off-topic, i think we players probably contribute to the some of these "oversensitive" freezings as well. for example, we are not happy with trading post lots that states "NFT" or anything along that line and whine abt it. players also whine if lots ask for exorbitant price and relate it to illegal price jacking. ultimately, it culminates to more rules added and more jumpiness around the community. nowadays, you even got to think twice abt what to write in the wishlist, so much so that players are now advised to leave it blank.

Yeah, twas a bit severe, I think the reason i was was because people need to wake up and realise that you have to be so much more careful these days, the whole "just-ice" cartoon summed up how "dangerous" it can be, and to throw your hard work away by not just thinking twice worked me up a bit. I mean, im sure if you were about to say "oh crap crappity craptacularly crappy!" the thought "should i post this" would flash through your mind. Well if it does, then LISTEN to it and dont post, because was letting a bunch of strangers, most of whom will either be jealous, abusive or just cold-shoulder you, know that you won a prize worth losing your account for?
So please, anyone with an account they care about, just think before you do something that could jeopardise your account unecessarily. I know you cant avoid some things, but saying something potentially inappropriate on the neoboards is something highly avoidable

I hate when people claim you're cussing. I said "damn" on the Neoboards, and people were claiming I was cussing. I said to them that if it doesn't get filtered with their huge list of bad words, then of course it has to be fine. But people NEVER want to listen to reason on the Neoboards. It's always the same, people like to argue on there, and when you argue you only want to make people think the way you do without listening to anyone else.

skullsplitter is so right--as usual--we have to wake up and be more careful with what we say and how we say it. There are lots of kids and kids' parents around (of which I am a member) and even some grandparents who play.
I say the word "crap" occasionally when I am frustrated--and my husband gets really mad when I use the word "hell" (he asks me if I think we are living in a trailer park). I don't see anything wrong with either of those words b/c there are many that are a whole lot worse--but I do see the need to respect others' views of what they consider to be "vulgar." What I might say amongst friends or in private, I probably wouldn't say in front of my daughter (or my husband

)
So, I guess when posting on the chats, like skullsplitter says, you should think before you write. If you wouldn't say it in front of your 95-year-old great grandmother, than you shouldn't put it on the chats.

Oh, I'm really sorry you were frozen for something like that. TNT has been on a freeze-a-thon ever since the big glitch in April. I've lost many friends over the past couple of weeks alone. One friend was frozen for "over" reporting. Not false reporting, not harrassment, no jealousy or anything like that. Just sent in too many reports. And she's been told she's not getting her account back

2 friends were frozen for inappropriate usernames - both accounts over 2 years old. After a very big letter writing campaign, her account was reinstated, but the other was not and will not be.
Crap can get you frozen, calling someone the 4 letter word for newbie can get you frozen, even though Neo uses the term, damn CAN get you frozen even though Neo uses it themselves - I saw someone get frozen for using it. Just about anything can get you frozen. I just hope when you write in and get an answer that it's a good one and I hope you get an understanding staffer. There is one in particular who just seems to not give anyone a break right now

It really is dissapointing that the don't give warnings for minor offenses such as this. Crap? I've seen entire conversations on the neobored containing much worse, and yet while the people causing the trouble were reported (and rightfully so!), they weren't frozen, at least not after nearly two full pages of swearing. It's so inconsistant.

x_x; People on the neoboards can be so sensitive. One time a person I knew got frozen because someone reported her for saying, "son of a gun." Anyways, good luck on getting your account back!

I suprised that everyone has assumed it was over the word crap. It could have been over holy, since religion isn't allowed on neopets. Of course that doesn't make a lot of sense, but neither does getting frozen over the word crap.
The neoboards are always bad news. People are so report happy now days. Couldn't TNT perdict that by adding the Report this message links so many people would be wrongfully frozen? Those buttons are probably they're worst idea ever, and the longer they're there the more people will be wrongfully frozen.
I'm really sorry about you're account. Hopefully TNT will unfreeze it.

Well, the "report message" link serves a purpose. How else could TNT possibly locate all those nasty chain letter posters? Also before you might have seen someone posting something that you knew was wrong, but just couldn't take the time and bother to report. Now it's much easier. But of course because it is easier there are always those who think they know better than everyone else, and who can be report happy whenever they don't like what you're saying.
It seems like either way, somebody loses.
