Guys, insulting Neopian rants won't help our relationship with them. The members there make good points at times, and it's not the most 'horrible place in the world', as some may think it is.

However, if you put your art out there for people to see, you've got to take the criticism, good or bad that goes with that. Hurtful as it is, every artist goes through it. I've been through crits as bad and worse then that, so consider yourself lucky. Most of which by the way, have been by fellow artists. If you ever want your heart and soul ripped out, take University level art courses.

As said before, ignore them. Showing them that you were offended by their comment only encourages them. I believe the common internet lingo is "Don't feed the troll." :)

I've seen a bit of the artwork that you posted here, and it looks fine to me. It does appear to be 'kiddy' in a way, but that may just be the style you like drawing. It's not horrible by any means.

The main thing you need to keep in mind about your art, however, is whether or not you have fun doing it. You shouldn't care what people think, you should care about how you feel about your art.

I think that was very mean of them to say it that way, but honestly your art could use a little more practice even though it is fairly nice.

As for a rant forum I thought that was called neocolors. :P

When you post something up like that you should be ready for all possible responces. It's a public thing. No one ever said that everyone has to praise everyone all the time.

You shouldn't let it get to you. There will be people who don't like your stuff, but like somebody said before, the important thing is that you like it.

Also, the rants about PPT are so old. That issue has been done and over with for a while, I think.

Yep, just need to give the children a little time to grow up (mentally). Same goes for the forums thing. Children will be childish, they'll grow up someday.

To be honest it was the second time you'd posted almost exactly the same thing, I think some people were just losing patience. Everyone gets bad criticism for their work along with the good. Really it's to do with how much you enjoy your art yourself, if we all worried about what people thought then there would be no artists!

Sorry, but I don't follow. Losing patience? With what? Sorry, I think the heat's getting to me. It's addling my brain ;)

Yeah, you're right, and I DO feel proud of my art and everything and I'm happy with the end results, but it still hurts when someone's being offensive just for the fun of it. There was no way that what they said was constructive. It was just to hurt my feelings.

I'd be interested in seeing some of your art, Ginger ^^

I had a friend once who was extremely determined to win the BC/AG/ etc., but she wasn't that great at art... Well, she tried, really hard, and was always asking people to request her to draw one of their neopets or something... Now, she's gone from messy drawings on peper to almost professional computer drawings. I know for a fact she recieved some pretty harsh critisism near the beginning, but she stayed persistent and proved a LOT of people wrong.

So even if your drawings aren't "pro" (no offence, of course, I haven't even SEEN them yet), if you just block out critisism and remember how proud you are of the drawing, you'll make it into the AG.

And remember, there isn't really a definition to "good" in artistic things, like writing and drawing and dancing. It's opinions. If you have a good opinion of your work, and you're proud of it, then you've succeeded and it doesn't matter what that critic said, or wether TNT decides to put it in the art gallery.

And some advice-- don't look at your drawings TOO much, because you'll notice all the little imperfections... I did that with one of my drawings, I used to be SUPER proud but now I just think "Eh. It's alright, but not great."

I find that I think about my art differently if I forget about if for a month or so then judge it again with a fresh mind.

That sucks, Ginger. There's such a thing as constructive criticism afterall...
