HOORAY

I passed my Driving Test!

Image

(for the few of you who are unfamiliar with the West Australian process of getting a drivers permit, you have to get a learners permit for stage one, then after 6 months you take a test that lets you go into phase 2. In phase 2, you just get 25 hours of logged experience then you can get your full drivers license!)

I only did one mistake in my test, i was so close to perfection. Poop.

But its pretty speccy, all the driving and the like.

Congratulations, though.

Ah, kids these days. I remember a time before drivers' licenses...of course, that was before the wheel, too. You lazy brats, you don't know work until you've had to drag a mammoth back to the cave without some fancy-schmancy cart.

Ya bums!!

Congrats, by the way.

And now the road is slightly more dangerous. :P Just kidding, have fun driving yourself and your friends to wherever you please.

Haha, I still have my permit and I should've had my license a year ago. That's what I get for being lazy...though I never actually needed one until recently. I could've walked to wherever I needed to go.

Still, congrats! Enjoy your freedom, but be careful! Don't want nasty pains or bills now do we? :P

I HAVE YOUR ADDRESS. :O

I actually failed my first permit test. It was a written one and I didn't feel like studying. There were two parts: one of driving rules, the other of road signs. You could miss a total of 5 from the combined 20-question test. Of course, I got 100% on the signs, but the rules... God, how am I supposed to know how many feet across a median must be in order for you not to have to stop your car when a school bus is letting kids off on the other side. I missed 6/10 questions, because I knew none of this stuff. :@ But then I retook it afterwards and got a 9/10 (I missed a question because I read it wrong ;X).

Good luck with your driving! :D

Australian driving tests seem better than New Zealand ones.

Written test at 15. Can't get more than 3 out of 25 wrong.

If pass -> Get your "Learner License"

Learner Liscense Rules : No passengers. Must have somebody who's had their full license for three years in the front seat of the car whenever driving. No alcohol at all. No driving past a certain time etc etc etc

After 6 months on learners, sit practical test.

If pass -> Get your "Restricted License"

Rules : No passengers unless you have been issued Exemption if people depend on you solely for transport (EG : Children) or if there's somebody who's had their license for three years in front seat. Very little alcohol permitted. No driving after a certain time (10:00 PM ?)

After 18 months on restricted, sit second practical. If pass -> Full License.
OR
After 12 months on restricted + completed Approved Driving Course, sit practical.

Anywho, I'll stop ranting about the licensing rules here (mainly because I'm not 100% on them XP I learnt the road code and then forgot it once I passed my test :P) and say congrats.

Congrats! You don't have to have your learner's for long though, six months. In Ontario Canada, it is longer:

At 16 you go do a written test that you have to get 80% on I believe. They issue you a learners (G1) that you have for a year, or 8 months if you do Drivers Ed. With this you can only drive with someone who has 4 years driving experiance in the front seat, you can't drive between midnight and 5am, no alcohol, and you arn't allowed on any road that has a posted speed limit of 80km/h (50mph).

After the waiting period you can get the next level (G2) after completing a driving test. You are allowed to drive by yourself anywhere. You can't have any alcohol in your system and between midnight and 5am, if you are under 19, you can only have one other person who is under 19 (unless they are your immediate family)

One year after that, you can go do another driving test and you can get your full license (G).

I'm turing 16 next month so yeah I know all about the system here

I'm not positive on it, but I think in the US, or at least New York State...

At 16 you can take a driver test and if you pass you get your permit. You can't drive after 9pm and you have to have a licensed driver with you at all times.

If you took driver's ed you can take your driving test six months after your permit.
If you didn't, I think you have to wait until you are 18.

Anyway, you take a drivers test then you get your license. Easy as pie.

The system is here the same as Zega's, I think, only you can get your permit at 15 1/2 or something.
