It's still up on both pages.

Edit: And now I don't see it.

Maybe it's taking a long time to load for some people because it keeps going from Yay they removed it! :) to grrrr! they didn't remove it yet! :x

This is a serious problem for some people and I can sympathise but the only way TNT is going to change this is if they're threatened with a law suit most likely because there are tons of sites out there that have annoying flashy crap on them and it's not just this one page. Flashing lights and colors are problems with a lot of video games and a few televisions shows (for the very sensitive). Either TNT will put up a lame-o disclaimer that they aren't responsible for any dammages as a result of user lookups/shops or what ever (they probably already have that somewhere) or they'll change it so lookups and shops can't be user edited if enough attention is drawn to the issue. Freezing this one person might cause some back firing, they might decide to purposely get another account with the same stuff on it and encourage other people to do the same thing (and you KNOW some people would put up moving backgrounds just to be contrary). I'd be surprized that all the attention to this issue in this thread hasn't sparked copy cats.

Nope, it's still there. I did CTRL+F5 to clear out my cache, and it still loaded.

But it did take a second for it to appear. I wonder why. o_O

Wow, I had no idea something like this could be such a problem. When I first started reading this thread I thought "oh, how annoying, but not really reportable..." but as I kept reading I was shocked. I would Never have guessed something as simple as that could cause such problems!

It is possible that this user thought it was really nifty having this background and that the person they received it from was the one who realized they could create a problem. They may not realize that this is real... when I first read it could cause a seizure, I being totally uneducated on the subject, thought it was just an embellishment. That is until I read people's accounts of viewing the page.

I really am sorry to hear about the trouble it has already caused for some of you, and I really hope TNT can find a way to fix it. I really can't see them dismissing it as nothing, it certainly sounds serious.

So with the software mentioned earlier in the thread, does it just stop the flash patterns or rates that actually cause the problem, or is it most flash patterns in general? If a website can use it to keep bad patterns from showing up, does that mean that there is software that a photosensitive user could install on their end as a last defense?

I hope everyone it hit feels better! It sounds like you had a rough time of it Morningstar!

There's a big difference though, between just flashing lights and colors and this background.
The problem with this background is the specific color pattern and flicker timing. That particular pattern and speed is nearly perfect for sending photosensitive (and some others - as I said, I'm not generally photosensitive and I went into a seizure) epileptics into seizure. Something about the brain processing needed to comprehend the various changes, if I remember correctly.

Somebody (I belive it was Morningstar) stated correctly earlier that there are programs out there designed to make images with this particular flicker rate unplayable. Many sites with advertising use it to make sure that their banner ads, though annoying and often headachy, don't reach danger territory. I'm sure TNT has this on their ads, so it'd be fairly easy to implement it onto the whole site.

BTW contact TNT with this forum

http://www.neopets.com/autoform_abuse.p ... use=report

I think we should sent TNT a load of reports or something asking them to remove the bg.
